Description Not directly inspired by Memoirs of a Geisha... it's not a hidden fact that I am slightly obsessed with all things Japanese (and before you ask, no I am not Japanese).

So I've been working on this on and off for about a month now. I probably put more time into this than it looks. If you saw my color pallet, you'd wonder what was wrong with me After a while, I got lazy and omitted some details that are indicative of a Maiko (or apprentice Geisha). This particular Maiko is a very young one, having had her debut not very long ago. The frame was made from a path shape I made. And this will be the last time I EVER do a kimono. The pattern took me DAYS to do. Way too much effort for what it produced

If you want to see a detail of her face and the little green block on her obi, click here

Thanks!
I've actually thought about revisiting it... I got tired of working on it so I stopped... hence the reason she doesn't have hands

No, you can't do a maiko without the dozens of tiny flowers and sparkly silver flutters in her hair! Poor little maiko! That's the whole reason for becoming maiko in the first place. That, the 5" shoes, and the crazy huge colorful kimono, which is pretty awesome. Beautiful colors, especially the kimono and the pink blush around her eyes. I like the background too.

heh... yeah... I know... but I got lazy
if I try another Maiko, I'll make sure to do it properly! Insanely high shoes, flowers, bells, and all

I wish I could take credit for the background... I just applied some effects to the stock picture I found! (though the pink framework was fun to do )

Everytime I visit your page this one catches my eye. The colors are fantastic, and the details are very well defined.
And for a mouse, it proves you have amazing patience. I just got my tablet a few months ago and I know the times I wanted to stab my mouse for not going the way I wanted. This is awesome and I hope you do more like it

patience, HA! I nearly threw my mouse through the computer every time I worked on it. the file was sooooo huge that Photoshop was running like a snail. every time the urge to destroy hardware came over me, I walked away from it

I was going to make it a series... one for fall, winter, and summer as well, but from different regions of the world (I think the other three were India, Scotland, and... uh... I forgot what the last one was!)

Yeah I have had that problem too. Before I got my tablet I wanted to introduce my mouse to Mr. Hammer...

I almost introduced the monitor, computer, and mouse to an 18 gage shotgun... too bad we only have target shells
