Repairing relationships start with an apology.
Raven and Yang knew DAMN well what they were apologizing for and both were very genuine about the apology. RoosterTeeth makes storylines that excellent characters that can be redeemed.
For example, Red vs. Blue had Carolina and Washington; both who were working for a major antagonist (The Director) and both redeemed themselves by joining and helping the Reds and Blues.
Red vs Blue has two great characters who managed to redeem themselves. RWBY is going to be the same, starting with Raven. Yes, what she did was not okay in ANY SENSE, but she CAN be redeemed.

I mean, sure, she did help Cinder and co. to attack Haven, but at least she didn´t join the fight herself. We all know how that would´ve turned out...

Fanfiction: THE BEST CURE!

Well, I´ve got 3 possible explanations for Raven to leave STRQ, but the third is a major plot point in her redemption arc in my fanfiction, so I´ll leave it out and you can read my fanfiction and wait for it to come around if you´re interested.
So, without further ado, here I go:
1. Raven knew that Tai and Qrow could handle themselves, even with Summer gone. They didn´t need her, but her bandit tribe did. Alternatively, Raven left STRQ before Summer died. Anyway, my point is that Raven knew her bandit tribe couldn´t survive without her. I mean, she did say that she and Qrow enrolled at Beacon to learn how to kill Huntsmen, so she does have every right to leave the team.
2. Like me, Raven is terrified of taking responsibility. However, this quickly falls apart when considering her bandit tribe.
The third idea is more of a theory on why she never used her semblance to visit Yang. I mean, it would literally be less than 5 minutes to get to her, no matter how far they were apart, yet Raven never visited.
I have a theory, but I don´t want to spoil anything in my fanfiction, so like I said, you can read it and wait for the part with that theory to come. It´s not out yet, but it´ll be soon.

well. Raven DID leave before Summer died. Like, as soon as Yang was born. Because if she didn't, Summer couldn't swoop in and get sloppy seconds. And, in a way, she (Raven) was around. Remember the fact that she can transform into a raven? She WAS around in a way, watching things from a distance as a birb.

Also, I´m convinced that Raven´s semblance is her namesake, much like Qrow and his semblance.
Ravens are often said to be horrible parents who don´t look after their young at all, but they´re always there, always watching and ready to step in.
Raven´s semblance lets her not only bond with people, but also open portals to them and contact them in their dreams, and I think she can also watch over the people she´s bonded with whenever she wants to.
Anyway, is your profile pic a mix of Mermaid Man (Spongebob Squarepants) and All Might (My Hero Academia)?

Remember the after-credit scene at the end of V2?
Raven appeared in Yang´s dream and told her that they needed to talk.

Also, the term "retconned" kind of confuses me.
After all, retcon is short for Retroactive Continuity, and describes something that is added to official lore later on, like a previously unknown exception to a rule or something like that.

a retcon can mean an add-on to a thing or a removal of a thing. A good example would be metal gear and metal gear 5. the big boss killed in the first game was, in fact, the body double, revealed in mgs 5. Or the spider-man story, one more day. That effectively removed Peter parker's marriage to Mary Jane, getting rid of about two decades worth of spider-man comic stories.

Sorry for not replying at all. Those theories make a lot of sense. My personal theory is that she left Tai and Yang in order to protect them. From what, I don't know, but it's possible Raven KNEW that the bandit tribe was not safe for Yang, so she left her with Tai so that she may live a normal and peaceful life...well, as normal and peaceful as possible.

Well, it does sound somewhat reasonable to assume that she wanted to protect Yang from a life as bandit, but I think she just wanted Yang to grow up outside the tribe to become strong on her own, given that she asked Yang to stay with her when they met in person.
