No, this is actually their first face to face encounter. Rehema did save Taka and the others from that hyena attack, but the two of them never did see each other.

I feel like deep down, Taka does know that he’s talking to his biological father. Judging by the look on his face and his initial jumbled dialogue, I feel like he does know, but doesn’t wanna say anything about it just yet because of Mufasa and a certain pesky little cheetah. Think about it, Uru did tell Taka the story of how he was conceived and I’m sure Taka has seen his own reflection in the water so I’m pretty sure that he was able to put the pieces together pretty quickly when seeing Rehema for the first time. It does seem like Taka is the only lion in the Pridelands with brown fur, green eyes and a black mane and seeing an older lion with those same features is obviously a sign to him that he is indeed seeing his father face to face for the first time.
