Description
why the title?
because these two are Henry VII (Henry Tudor, Lancaster heir, so the 'Red rose' emblem) and Elizabeth of York (York heir, so 'White rose') and with their union as King and Queen of England, they put an end to the War of the Roses.

they are one of my fav historical OTPs and if you are asking why do i 'ship' them, you have to know that historically speaking, despite their union being a political match, they fell in love and had a happy and loving marriage, until Elizabeth died, leaving a Henry completely devastated -as you can read it in the description of my previous drawing for them.

so here a fanart i made quickly -you can see the creepy quality, but i hope you will like anyway

-

((please do not believe the bullshit written in The White Princess about them, or any other book by Philippa Gregory. i tried to read it for my OTP. i wanted to vomit.))

This looks uncomfortable for her. I have seen a mini series that was about the Turos or that is a different family I am thinking of. And two seasons of the Showtime tv show Turos. AH Can't spell today!

Your art is lovely <3

might sound silly, but I have a old, on-hold Alternative History story written in Swedish where Elizabeth I of England were born as Richard IV of England instead, as the only son of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn

I've always been confused about their relationship. Elizabeth is never counted as one of Henry's six wives yet she is probably the most important. What happened to her?

because you are talking about Henry VIII and this drawing is about his father, Henry VII, who had just one wife

In truth I haven't read the book but I am endlessly tired of novelists claiming to write history. Even if they have the best of intentions, they are going off of what would make a 'good story' and not the facts of the matter. You have my utmost sympathies.

Hahahah your small print

Really though, this is wonderful. Their posture is very loving and I have always enjoyed the simplicity of your work and how it makes the characters shine.

Yes it's beautiful! You're always able to capture so much passion and the emotions of these people. I like your art for that reason, besides your obvious talent, you somehow are able to make these historical figures seem like they were real and full of life. I think we often forget that.

I like that you ship so many couples, its great! I need to expand my horizons a bit heheh

I love the rest of Phillipa Gregory's books, but The White Princess was a real disappointment :/

Β

There was what- one romance scene? Henry was portrayed as a complete dick to Elizabeth when he was really a good husband. And also, the thing with the fake Prince Richard was dragged on for ages! it took over the entire book! Then the end was just done in a snap after all that time.

Β

Overall, only around 1/4 of the book was actually based on the relationship of Elizabeth and Henry, and only around 1/8 had any romance. The rest was him being a douche and her getting pissed off at him all because of the Richard situation.

Β

Loved the other White Queen book, but this one was a major meh.

I will have to agree with nami64 except I can use the word hate although the books are interesting to read any one who is reading them to learn about history will agree that every one should consider them as what they are FICTION!!!! I agree the white princess was a let down but just because Its really annoying dosnt mean they arnt as bad !!!

i will forever hate (well... hate is a big word but you get the idea) Philippa Gregory for what she did to these two. and the worst is that some people think it's historical accurate. and i want to cry because Henry and Elizabeth really REALLY loved each other.

nami64 In reply to InuChanFan [2014-01-01 20:37:09 +0000 UTC]

i hope not, 'cause if the follow the work of Philippa Gregory as they did for the first season, then we will have Henry raping Elizabeth, abuses, no trust, mutual hate and no love (and Elizabeth crying over her dead uncle Richard who was the move of her life!! *sigh* for God's sake i want to scream). so no, i don't want a season 2

Ah. I hadn't thought of that. But i did just read that it doesn't look like they'll make a second season, so it should be all good.

You have made me so ridiculously happy. Β I just came out of an Arthurian lit class in which we went through the history of the early English kings, and it all started sounding like a bad soap opera with very little actual grand romance. Β And now that I read under your other drawing that there really is historical evidence they were in love I am like summer joy inside. Β Someone should do their story justice - i mean, the red rose and the white? Β A political marriage that ended in love? Β A new dynasty born out of their union? Β I would watch or read the heck out of that.
