so this drawing is the begining of the courtship, or the talk about nothing and everything, or the slight blush on the cheeks, or the innocent 'hands touching'but in a carriage LOL
i wanted a romantic/cute picture, very 18th century and, i'm sorry, but i'm proud of the result
(my first idea was: "sexy time on the backseat of the carriage" but i was like "nooooooooooo... be romantic for once!")lineart: [link]

the long version: i watched very recently the mini-serie "John Adam" and it was AMAZING! but as the name says, it's about John Adams but there were a few great scenes with Thomas Jefferson. Being french, i knew absolutely nothing about American Revolution war... and i wanted to learn more about TJ. I read. And i found this amazing nd too short but heart breaking love story between Thomas and his Martha. Of course i knew he had a life after her death but i do believe that she was the love of his life.

I really just love everything there is about this picture. I adore the coloring of the carriage, the darker tones of the seats and the curtains do not force the eye to neglect them perhaps because of the gold touches? But it shifts your attention to the hands. That was the first thing my stare settled on. The gentle touch which might even be on accident.. or not. You did so well on the coloring of the clothing, the small touches like the ring on her pinky finger, the way her skirt puffs up behind her and his freckles! -- I am just stunned. GREAT JOB!

But just a note on carriage ride etiquette: usually single women are not suppose to sit on the same side of a carriage bench with a man unless that man is a family member. Though I'm not sure how much this applies to widows (even really young ones).
