Hahaha yep she could do with a little less fish - although it's also partially due to the angles there. She's not a reallyΒ fat dolphin and is still as energetic as everyone else. I do believe it's a little in the genes as well; she together with Nynke, another dolphin, just have this cute chubby wubby look. Can't remember a time when they were thin!
AND YES I ALWAYS MAKE A POINT OUT OF SHOWING CETACEANS THE DRAWINGS I MAKE OF THEM. THEY'RE DOLPHIN-APPROVED

Omg it's a real dolphin! Holy moly- is being that overweight healthy for a dolphin? She looks like some Beluga-dolphin crossbreed! (though it's not true imagine how cute a booger-dolphin would look ;'D)Β
Gosh dolphins are so fun to watch they always have that playful spark about them and then beneath that they're a dangerous time bomb waiting to go off. I mean they'll play with anyone even if it's tossing a ball around: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pcNer⦠Of course in the comments below there's those who think dolphins are made of paper. I think dolphins are pretty sturdy and getting hit by a rubber ball isn't going to break it in half. HAHA! It's amazing to see how they come up with their own unique games.
Onto the subject of fat dolphins again- I know there was a dolphin somewhere.. Scotland maybe? That was overweight.. I'm surprised that there even is fatty dolphins out there. Shows you how much I know. :'I

Oh, whoopsyfloopsy it seems I messed this ID up - the dolphin in the pictures is Lucy, not Molly. I don't know why I had it so burnt in my mind that this was molly DX Lucy/Lucille was actually born in Seaworld Orlando, which makes her a cosmopolitan dolphin, which is pretty cool.
At any rate, the photos do make her seem a little more fat than she truly is (with the bending of the neck and such), and I actually think her chubbiness is genetic or at least normal for her. There's several other dolphins in the park (for example Molly, Nynke and Roxy) who also just have this chubby look with the extra fat and 'sunken' eyes. I cannot remember a time when they were lean. And they already look a lot more 'normal' under less, uhh, bent circumstances, like here: Dolphin Jump Β Lucy is in the middle. I am certain they are very healthy Though you're right, in the upper right picture especially she looks like a booger/dolphin cross :'D
Oh and that video is UBER CUTE. The marine facility makes me cringe a little, with so many unsupervised people in the water, but the ball game that's going on is brilliant and pure and beautiful. I love how that little kid does not dare take the ball right from the dolphin's mouth, and so the dolphin keeps spitting it out, and how that older kid joins them in the end and just stands there, looking at that dolphin with the dolphin looking back. Funny to see how the dolphin image seems to be different there; I think that an American kid would have immediately run up to the dolphin for hugs and cuddles or something.
Ahh, there are indeed voluminous dolphins in Scotland, but that's the rule rather than the exception there! The Moray Firth population in Scotland is well known for being some of the biggest, and definitely the heaviest bottlenoses around. They sit at around 4 metres long and weigh in at a whopping 650 kg max. They're adorable fatties c2.staticflickr.com/2/1435/126⦠and did I mention they're big? s124.photobucket.com/user/chri⦠Got the chance to see them for myself last year, it was super awesome!
