Oui, oui, you're right. Mais je ne comprendre pas everything he says. He's from France, so he speaks quite funny. He can't pronounce the H, so I have to make 'omework xD But he's funny, because when we're listening French songs, you know, to hear some culture, he always sings along. And then, of course, the whole class laughs . And with easy songs we sing along too *starts singing: 'C'eeeeeeeest leeeeeee vaaaaacance, c'est le vacance en Italieeee'*
Ummm... sorry for that... Sometimes I just get excited . Au revoir

Yeah, everyone loves him too, when he has to have some book, he always says very loud 'Bonjour!', only he's always five minutes too late, and that's really annoying. But French people don't take time very strict, right? (no offence) And when a student est être en retard, you first have to knock, then wait till he says entrée and then you can enter.
And you sang that song when you were 9 and I sing that song when I'm 16... *ashamed* But it's easy to remember and I know what it means xD Au revoir!!

No problem ! xD yes, we just have to knock and enter but teachers always scold us and we have "une heure de colle" for 3 delays (sorry I don't know to say this in english u.u)
And don't worry, I still like this song xD *reminds me of the holidays =.=*

une heure de colle sounds like it means detension. Don't worry, we hate it too. (I've actually never gotten it, but it sounds rotten)

Yes, I want Christmas back !! x) That's it ! detention (I didn't remember -.-) and you're right, "heure" means "hour" and "colle" means "glue", it's a strange expression (maybe we're stuck to our chair during a detention o.o)
It's true that school starts at 8.00 am but it ends at 6.00 pm xD (wish school ends at 1.00 =.= *daydreamer*)

Yeah, that's what I thought too!! But 6.00 pm is really late, I mean, you're at school the whole day. And if you live a hour cycling/walking/taking a bus (I don't know which one French students do, I usually cycle), then you're only at home at night!! And if you have detention even longer O.O And you still have to do homework?! Then you have no life, you can't possible live like that, right? Oh my, I'll never complain when I have a long schoolday.
Here (in les Pays-Bas), a normal, full, schoolday starts at 8.30 am and end at 4.00 pm. That's the maximum you can get, unless you get detention of course. But somedays school only last till 3.10 pm, or 2.20 pm, or (when a teacher is sick or so) 1.00 pm. And sometimes school starts at 9.20 am, or 10.10 am. My timetable is something like this: Monday, from 8.30 am till 2.20 pm, Tuesday, from 9.30 am till 3.10 pm (with free houres from 10.10 am till 11.00 am and from 1.30 pm till 2.20 pm), Wednesday, from 9.20 am till 3.10 pm (with a free hour from 12.10 pm till 1.00 pm), Thursday, from 8.30 am till 3.10 pm and Friday, from 10.10 am till 4.00 pm.
In free houres you can make homework or go home or go to a shop or something.
Do you have free houres too? And does really every schoolday last till 6.00 pm?

Oh my god you're so lucky o.o ... 4.00 pm ? wow
It's true that we are the whole day at school u.u, I'm in first year in High School (I don't how to say this in english) and I haven't a bad timetable to compare with the last years x) : Monday : from 8.10 am (it depends on High schools, some of my friends starts at 8.00am) till 6.00 pm, Tuesday: from 8.10 am till 6.00 pm, Wednesday from 9.10 am till 12.10 am (in France, we finish school at 12.00 am on Wednesday, but it depends again on High school), Thursday : from 8.10am till 7.00 pm and Friday: from 8.10 am till 12.00 am (I'm an exception because I'm in Italien Class, other people in my class who choose Spanish finish at 4.00pm xD, poor them)
I haven't much free hours but I'm not complainig, I have a friend who starts always at 8.00am and finish at 6.00pm, she works on wednesday afternoon and she have 1 hour to go home u.u and I have an other friend who works on saturday morning ...
I just have 30 minutes to taking a bus but yes, it's night when I arrive at home x)
(sorry if some of my sentences are wrong :/ )

Oh, man, I'm so happy I don't live in France (no offence), or well, that I don't go to school in France. Actually, I would like to live in France, I love our holidays there. *sigh, holidays* Last year we were two weeks in Les Rhone-Alps and this year we're planning to go to le/la Drôme.
Are you then in le college? I think I'm in le lycée (is that spelled wrong?). In les Pays-Bas primary school finish at 12.00 am too on Wednesday, but secondary schools don't
You have Italien? That's so cool. I have only English (duh), Dutch (again, duh), German (boring xD), French (my brother said one time; 'Je suis une hollandaise', I was laughing and he didn't understand what was wrong ) Latin (useless) and Old-Greek (again, useless). I wish I had Italien or Spanish, I mean, those languages are still spoken somewhere.
30 minutes? That's pretty long, I cycle only 10 minutes, and then I cycle slow.
Where do you live somewhere? In the North or in South-France? Or in the center?

Yeah, I came to France since I was 9 or something. Every summer two weeks with a tent on a camping. Absolutely fantastic, swimming, playing and enjoy the sun. Too bad my parents always have to visit those old towns around our camping, and the castles and the other cultural things. Boring, although the grots are pretty cool. I think my first French words were 'Deux baguettes et un croissant', when my brother and I had to order bread at the campingshop
But my teachers don't speak English during the lessons (thank God), only the English teacher does xD
Do you go to the Atlantic coast in summer? I almost never go to sea, it's too far away *sigh* I live very close to the German border, so we only go to sea once in the three, four years.
I wish I didn't have so much languages, but in all schools in les Pays-Bas you learn that much languages. But I would rather have Italien then Old-Greek, at least that has the same alphabet

Oh yeah, un pain au chocolat, that's delicious. We sometimes have it, but since it's more expensive then a croissant (and we're Dutch, so we're greedy XD), we don't have it very often.
I said 'omework, but actually our French teacher says 'uiswerk (the Dutch word for 'omework and les devoirs).
We already had to chose our fillière, and I choose S (I'm not sure if I have this right, but it's about Nature and Health). So I don't have German and Greek and Economics anymore. But I have Dutch, Latin, French (we had to choose between German (allemande) and French, heh), English, la biologie, les maths, l'histoire, les sciences physiques, la chimie, some weird cultural subject about the Greek and Roman culture and a subject called Social Sciences, about the meaning of life and religions and all (it's boring, and useless, and stupid, and did I mention boring? xD).
We have two breaks, from 11.00 am till 11.20 am and from 1.00 pm till 1.30 pm (lunchtime).
How long is lunch time at your school? And how long are the other breaks? And what subjects do you have?

reppad98 In reply to Nana-elleuh [2012-01-18 18:12:37 +0000 UTC]
Really? That's cool, but of course in Les Pay-Bas it has different names, we just learned the French filières in class, you know, culture and all.
I don't think philisophie is the same as social sciences, since some friends of mine have philisophie and social sciences. Philisophie is more discussing, and well, social sciences is boring. Our social sciences teacher doesn't even read our essays. One time, somebody just wrote things like loser and jerk about him (our teacher) in the middle of the essay, and that person still got a B, or a 16 out of 20 (that's the French way of giving grades, right? 20 is the best, 10 is just passing and 0 is really bad?)
Oh my gosh, you have 1 hour and 35 minutes to lunch!! O.O That's really long, what are you eating that's taking so long?
I normally take 5 minutes to go to my locker and find my friends, then I eat my bread in 15 minutes and talk at the same time, then we go all to the toilet and the last 5 minutes we go and find our classroom.
What are you supposed to do 1 hour and 35 minutes long? What do you eat, a whole diner? xD
Your first break is similar to mine, I usually eat some fruit and drink some water. And I don't have your last break, usually I'm already home at that time

Ok it must be different so, I don't know what we do in Philosophie u.u
And yes in France we give grades with a "note" from 0 till 20 (20 is the best and 0 is the worse of course ^^) Wow, your social sciences teacher is really... special o.o but I'd like my french teahcer would be like that =.= I would have better grades ^^
During my lunch time I take five minutes to go to my locker like you ^^ but then I take about 30 minutes to queue at the canteen (?) And it's really horrible, everyone grows in the queue and I'm always crushed xD we have a cafeteria so we eat a meal with a starter, a main course and a dessert ^^ That's why it takes so long (and also because we can't stop talking) ! and we also have activities during the lunch time (we are priority and we don't have to queue these days) , I'm in the theater club and it start at 12:45 am ^^ in some school we can have "un cours" (having class ?) during the lunch time u.u That was like that when I was in "le college" -.- My stomach was always noisy during class xD

Yeah, but no drama club at least not at school. But once a year students give a show for other students, and then there is a club for building the decor, for the make-up, for the tickets and for the show itself.
Actually, we have to buy tickets (if we want to) this week, I'm going with my brother
But the whole year we only have a debat club, you know discussing things, with good arguments and all. They became champion of our district, my friend is in it too xD
Are you teachers striking (?, you know, not working because they want more money or less houres or something like that) too? Because here they are Thursday, and we have no lessons that day
Erm... What's calamari? I never heard of it, sorry

According to my friend, it is very interesting.
Yeah, the first term of this year, my French teacher was sick, so we missed every week three hours French, and the next term we were drowned in homework and, even worse, we couldn't watch a French movie. Normally, we watch every term a French movie, subtitled, you know, to get to know more about the culture.
We watched Taxi 1,2 and 3, and The Eighth Day (it has a French title, but I don't remember xD), and some film about a girl named Amélie Poulain, but I don't remember the whole title.
Did you see any of them?
Wow, you eat squid at school? And we eat just bread... Do you always eat such erm... special things? Because, well, I never ate squid before. We always have (at home, not at school) chicken, pig or cow flesh, or some sort of fish. And we eat vegetables and potatoes
Oh, and do you have to wear uniforms at school? They only do that in England, right? xD

hum...according to your friend xD
Oh you watched french films ! It's amazing I have seen Taxi 1 (and maybe 2 but I don't remember u.u), I like it x) ,I've never seen the eight day o.o What is it talking about ? and the whole title is "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain", I want to see this sinc long time ago, but I've never done u.u It's a classic x) and the theme song (?) is wonderful
We often eat squid, but it's not so special in France x). But I don't often eat squid at home, I usually eat steak, chicken or fish with vegetables, potatoes, pasta, rice or else. I think it's not so different from you x)
We haven't to wear uniform in public school xD But There is an high school close to mine where students have to wear only black and white clothes o.o (poor theme, I sometimes see one of them at the bus stop, dress as a businessman xD but it's very stylish *.*) but I'd like to wear an uniform, like Harry Potter x)
It's snowing at home today ! It's awesome because it does not snow often. Is it snowing in les Pays-Bas to ?

The eight day goes about a man who meets and befriends a boy/young boy with the Syndrom of Down and with the help of the boy the man tries to get his wife back. I don't remember much of it, except that the boy was very funny xD
That's too bad for those children, I don't think I would like to wear an uniform, but if that meant that I could go to Hogwarts, I wouldn't mind at all
Yes, here's snow too. It snowed Monday and Friday it snowed again I love snow, my brother, sister and I went sledding in the forest yesterday It was much fun. Too bad it's too cold for building a snowman, the snow doesn't stick enough
I think it snows here a few times a year, but it differs a year. One year there's no snow at all and an other year there's so much snow that you can't drive safely.
Last year there was so much with Christmas (we had a white Christmas ) that we couldn't go to our grandparents because there was too much snow on the roads and it was too slippery and in the forest you couldn't clim the hills because the paths were too slippery too and if you wanted to go down you didn't need a sled, you could just sit down xD My cousin was wearing new trousers and on the hill she slided down from was a blue stripe from her trousers
How cold/warm is it in France? Here is it at night -11 degrees Celcius and at day -4 degrees. Freezing cold
