I finally colored this drawing. I had to, because the première for the new anime is next week! I'm so excited, I'll end up hurting my feelings. It'll be a while before the Super form makes an appearance, but that doesn't stop me from liking it best.
I decided to use the manga version of the coloring because gradients are pretty. I used Faber Castell aquarelle pencils but decided against watering them in the end. I didn't want to distort the paper and was worried there wasn't enough room for the gradients to remain... I don't know how to use aquarelle pencils. The background was improvised but I like it; I think I'll use that technique again.
Painting blonde hair always makes me anxious, but I like how it turned out, especially the buns and her left pigtail. I used darker tones of each color for shading, plus pink. The scanner ate a lot of the color, unfortunately, and my efforts to resurrect it on GIMP only helped a little. I hope you still can like it; I'm rather pleased myself.
I'd like to draw the other Senshi, but I'll do it on white paper where the colors look better. There are so many Senshi I like, especially the obscure ones, plus my own and other fanmade ones, and it's always so much fun!
I've found a solution to my artist's block.

Anyway, enough ranting. What do you think? Are you excited about Sailor Moon Crystal too?
