Vyse, along with Yuri Lowell, is one of the very few badasses in JRPGs. While most other JRPG heroes can't go ten seconds without tripping over something and cursing their existence for getting a sore toe (Edge Maverick, for example), Vyse is actually capable of handling problems. "Right," he says when he's stranded on an island, "I'll make a signal fire to attract ships to where I am. In the meantime, I'll make shelter and a fire and hunt for food. Hopefully, they get here soon."
