Description Tuffty Bitties, Mustela Tuffty (c) NanoBanana
Bittybones AU (c) Fucken-Crybaby

=== HOW DO I ADOPT A TUFFTY? ===
You just decide to and do! They are totally and completely free for anyone to adopt, so no need to ask (I'll always say yes). You can adopt as many as you like, just make sure to take care of them. You can write about your Tuffty/Tuffties or draw them, change their clothes, give them accessories, etc. The types described here are like describing the differences between a German Shepard dog and a Great Dane dog. They're all Tuffties, just different "breeds", if you will.

If you adopt a Tuffty, please make sure to credit me for the creation of the species and type. Also, DO NOT adopt them just to kill or maim them (or let other Bitties and creatures kill or maim them). Also also, DO NOT declaw them, crop their ears, or dock their tails! That's just cruel.

=== TUFFTEMBER 2022 ( ~ in January 2023 ~ ) - DAY 11 ===
This type is based on the genus Mustela (many species of weasels, stoats, polecats, and ferrets; make sure to check the scientific name)! I had a lot of fun intertwining these Tuffties with preexisting types (including Xenbonzacura 's Fluufi Tuffties) and building a bit more on illegal fighting rings within the canon universe. Be warned! Some of the information below could be considered a bit graphic. (hunting/killing/death/blood/etc.) O_O

Mustela Tuffty
    Height / Tail Length: 6.7 - 16.3" (17.0 - 41.4 cm) / 0.5 - 8.2" (1.27 - 20.8 cm)
    Ear Type: Short, rounded or triangular, upright or kept flattened against the skull, and with a broad base; ear fur amount and length varies (based on species within the genus Mustela)
    Fur: They grow fur on their tails, ankles, feet, and a tuft on their heads; their fur is dense, especially in winter when they have a full undercoat; their fur in winter is silky to the touch while in summer it feels more coarse; their coloration seems to mimic those found in nature (only natural colors or patterns found on species in the genus Mustela); those that live in areas with regular, yearly snowfall will often become pure white after their fall shedding season and revert back in spring; albinism is unusually common in House Mustela Tuffties (those born into human and/or Monster households)
    Diet: Carnivore (they cannot digest plant material or fruits!)
    Favorite Food: Fresh rabbit they killed themselves
    General Opinion: Mixed. Many people love them for their playful demeanor and rodent-hunting skills, but they are equally seen as a massive detriment to most bird populations. Some cultures even view these Tuffties as harbingers of misfortune! As such, many areas where these Tuffties are not native have bans or strict limitations on keeping or adopting Mustela Tuffties. These Tuffties are often caught and sold on the black market to fighting rings or for their fur and are thought to be the origin point for the Fluufi Tuffty type.
    Traits: All Mustela Tuffties share certain traits -- vocal, highly curious and inquisitive, clever and intelligent, self-reliant, problem-solvers, energetic, quick, can be sneaky -- but other traits depend on whether they were born in the wild or a human/Monster household
        Wild: Generally solitary, tentative and wary of new things, suspicious, protective, fierce, bold, highly observant, prefers to make quick decisions rather than adopting a "wait and see" approach, they will be patient if they need to be
        House: Very social, playful, mischievous, rambunctious, cuddly and affectionate, cheerful, can become bored easily, loves to hoard small objects they find valuable, can develop a strong sense of jealousy towards newcomers receiving attention
    Notes: In colder climates, Mustela Tuffties tend to roam rather than hold a territory, but will instead kill a rodent or some other burrowing/nesting prey and take over their burrow/nest for the day. They will guard this immediate location for a day or two before moving on. In warmer climates, Carrier-leaning individuals will hold small territories and defend them from other Mustela Tuffties looking to settle into a territory, while Donor-leaning individuals roam around and only fight with each other if they come across one another. Donor Mustela Tuffties may have up to ten active mate-bonds while Carrier Mustela Tuffties will only ever have two. Donor Mustela Tuffties do not assist in the raising of their young, leaving all of it to the Carriers. The nesting burrow is usually stolen from some burrowing animal (rabbits, rats, mice, etc.) and repurposed with clumsy tweaks. Once the pups are a few weeks old, the Carrier Parent will separate them into different burrows across the territory and raise the seperately until they reach young adulthood. As a "rite of passage" into full adulthood, young Mustela Tuffties are expected to hunt down and kill a rabbit on their own. They are not considered "adults" until they do so. Once successful, the young Tuffty presents some of the fresh rabbit to their Carrier as a sign of respect and gratitude for raising them well. The Carrier Parent will then expect them to move out of the territory, but may tolerate a few remaining nearby. When living in a more domestic setting, large families stick together and often play-fight, but rarely become truly aggressive with one another. Mustela Tuffties shed twice a year, a slow shedding in spring (when they lose the majority of their undercoat) and a rapid one in fall (when they regain their dense undercoat). All Mustela Tuffties are nocturnal, but some may be active during dawn and dusk as well. It is possible for them to slowly shift over to a more diurnal schedule, but most would prefer not to. They have very sharp hearing, a keen sense of smell, and excellent vision in the dark. Mustela Tuffties are good swimmers, but only tend to swim as a necessity. They are amazingly flexible and have the strongest bite force among all known Tuffty types. Wild Mustela Tuffties are fierce hunters that are capable of bringing down prey five to ten times their size, aiming to break the prey's neck with a strong bite to the back of the neck or letting the prey bleed out. More aggressive individuals have been known to exude or even spray a sharp, foul-smelling liquid from near the base of their tail (thankfully the stench dissipates quickly). Mustela Tuffties will make a guttural hissing sound when surprised or alarmed, short screaming barks when angry, and a shrill wail or squeal when defensive. They will lunge and stamp towards intruders or opponents in warning before launching themselves at an opponent for a vicious wrestling match. They will bite at their opponents, but rarely aim to kill unless cornered, until one submits. Not only is there a thriving trade on the black market for their fur (pure white and black are highly prized, especially the silky winter coats), but there are specialty illegal fighting rings that focus on this type. They prefer to catch wild Mustela Tuffties and pit them against prey-type Tuffties, various animals, and even each other. The losers are killed (if they weren't already dead from the fight) and their fur is sold off as an addition to the prize money that the owner of the winner receives. Mustela Tuffties are highly wary of Polar Plumies and Ciner Plumies, and have been known to actively hunt Tophat Plumies, Cynomys Tuffties, and Rodere Tuffties. As such, it is NOT recommended to adopt these into the same area or household! Tuffty eyelights are round but can have "rings" inside or outside the main eyelight.
    Anatomical Notes: Mustela Tuffties have short, sharp claws on their toes that are semi-retractable. The claws on their hands do not retract. These Tuffties have sharp teeth and long canine teeth. Many individuals from this type have a mask-like marking on their face, but not all. The shape of their mask-like facial marking varies from individual to individual. They can have spots or other markings on their bones that color-match to their fur color or markings.
    Breeding Notes: Litters born between Tuffties will blend traits between the parents. If breeding with another type of Bitty (like Plumies) and the Tuffty is the Carrier Parent, then all offspring will be a Tuffty. If the Tuffty is the Donor Parent, then all offspring will be the same type as the Carrier Parent (no hybrids!). Mustela Tuffties can inherit colors and patterns from other Tuffty types, but not other Bitty types (like Plumies) and they will usually have a mask-like marking on their face.
