Here's some concepts behind how the Dahlz life cycle works. People have taken an extreme interest to them and I imagine want to know more about them. Part of the fun though is not knowing too much. It's only briefly explained in FG how a Dahlz life plays out, as short as it is, but I already can tell they've found their place as important characters. With the reworked version of FG I've actually added a scene that I think you all will like and you'll get to see a semi familiar... face? Flower cap? LOL, I need a name for the Dahlz hair... I guess petals is okay since that's what it is.I plan to use this rough concept art in some of the books in the library in Willow Haven, much like an old history book, that details some of the fantasy creatures in this already fantasy world. If this looks rougher than usual it's because I colored right under my pencils and didn't try to refine them too much. I'm finding myself oddly detached from doing anything perfect these days. Loose and free feels nice sometimes. Doing those roots was killer though... and I CHEATED... okay I just traced color along the pencil lines, every single one of them! Felt much faster when I'd sketched this... I hope it's clear where she is too... -___- Other wise my concept art needs WAY more work.

hi there, i ran across your gallery while browsing. I wish i could pinpoint and tell you exactly what i love so much about this picture, but i cant exactly...something about the colors you used, the luminescence at the top and darkness at the bottom...its like WOW. Great work

FG is a comic XD. I'm still slowly getting pages done but it's not enough ot put them up online yet. Very soon though, probably late August.

i knew FG (Fungus Grotto or something right?) was a comic. Is just you talk alot about it and i've never seen it.

ok i did send a comment bout the talking thing but don't have 2 ask again it was answered 4 me.... i love the DAHLZ seriously the day you posted it i drew it lol i rele hope you don't mind.. ^^' i jus luv them so0 much i want 1 as well XD but wen ppl ask i do give you all the creditt!!! n e way wat i was going to say was you aslways draw them alone except 4 the cherry blossoms.... you should make one that has 2 different lo0king ones waiting and watching 2 prey on the fairy.... that's a sik concept i think i nite draw what i am seeing in my head, just a sketch 2 show you cuz i can't explain but i ALWAYS try and draw my own.... the flower don't come out well like i see it though :CRY: but i would rele appreciate it if you um... comment me back PLEASE!!!!! i have so0 menyy other ideas in my headnd i jus wanted 2 tell you them ... ok i think i bored you enough later

onless she's like a tubule that grew from the roots, so it wouldn't look odd if she clawed straight up and out of the ground and i'ts not upside down reallly? O_O. shall think some more.

I absolutely love the effect of the work with the pencils not being outlined or anything just colored right underneath like you said it looks great! It's like a shady grey outline and it goes perfect with the colors. Is this gonna be an entire section in its own in FG or just a small snippet?

Sweet! I'm glad the theme came across clearly. Because the Dahlz don't talk so a lot of how they express themselves is through movement and what they do. Which makes doing anything with them all the more difficult! And this ones still 'asleep' and stuff. I've been wanting to do a Dahl with fushia/hot pink petals for a while now too. Glad you like it and thank you for your words~

XD Glad you like it! I want a Dahlz too :0. Maybe I should exercise the idea of them able to be tamed in FG... Much like a very vicious natural enemy to the Fae. Certain Fae spend their lives practicing taming these enemies... Hmm, I might tinker with that idea a bit! XD Thanks!
