С ума сойти! Сколько смысла! Люблю такие работы - со смыслом. Браво!
Однозначно Цири хочет быть ведьмаком а не королевой... красивая работа, да я вообще от всех работ в восторге!
Желаю Вам творческих успехов!

Ah, this picture has so much more meaning when you know of the False Ciri.
Little do people know the Lioness of Cintra has a body double, and that girl is probably the first to crack Emperor Emhyr's heart of stone.

Hmmm.... it's an interesting way of thinking. I know about false Ciri, and I interpreted this art very diferently. For me it was Ciri on the end of TW3 - Wild Hunt seeing the other outcome she could have: the Empress seeing the witcher(ess?) or vice-versa.

It's in the last one, the lady of the lake. This happens in one of the last chapters.

I agree. The way I see it though is that if you let her do everything herself - take her to see Emyhr, rather than keep her from him, let her talk to the sorceresses, agree with her decision to kill Imlerith - then becoming Empress is the decision that she made on her own. It wasn't you telling her to and it wasn't you forbidding her from doing anything or keeping anything or anyone from her.

There was(is?), believe it or not, a win-win solution in which she would be able to be both things, and remain free to do what she wants. A solution so simple and elegant no one ever bothered to think about, CDPR included.

Viceroy. Someone wise enough, experienced enough and trustworthy enough to be civil administrator while Cirilla can be "Commander-in-chief" and as such do most of the things she'd like to. Ambassador Van Attre comes to mind; during his dialogue with Geralt he comes off like a level-headed, enlightened person who has a disdain for racial and religious persecutions that go on in Redania. He might be an ideal administrator, who could in turn gather more loyal, trustworthy and wise people to help Ciri govern her empire.
After all, Ciri's the empress, she should be able to do whatever she damn well pleases. After all, there is no law that says Lioness of Cintra and heir to the throne of Nilfgard can't be a part-time witcher at the same time.

Yes, you have an interesting point.
Though I disagree with the part "After all, Ciri's the empress, she should be able to do whatever she damn well pleases." because the point is pretty much that as an empress or ruler in general, you can't do whatever you please, certain protocols dictate what you can do and cannot. Certain things are expected of her and she has to fulfill those requirements to keep her people loyal.

True, indeed. Besides, being an Empress, there could be enemies foreign/domestic who would like to overthrow/assassinate her. After the Wild Hunt & stopping the White Frost, she deserved a break, a peaceful life.

I cannot rightly say whether or not you're wrong, for I have yet to play the game or know the full reasoning and story.
But from what I gathered, it may be politically/economically best for the world if she ruled over the land, but at the same time, to her it may very well be the same as enslavement and scapegoating. Considering her rule would not be eternal, and even if she did do a great deal for the world, the next tyrant would come along and undo all she's done.

Hmm, again, I cannot rightly say as I haven't played the game.
I can only say this though. Even if some people choose to accept a duty, it doesn't mean it comes without a heavy burden. Ruling a country with supreme power DOES NOT make you free. Unless you want your people to revolt against you, you have to keep peace and order, determine economy and policy with other nations and kingdoms, work your arse off to ensure the prosperity of your kingdom. If you're a passionate and good ruler, you will certainly see an age of greatness before you and may be proud of your accomplishments. BUT you will never be able to leave this responsibility, even if you want to. You can never go out and live a different life, and your desires always come second to those of your empire.
I think that's what the artist is representing here in this art piece. Perhaps Ciri accepted the duty of Empress because she knew it was her responsibility. But every day she looks in the mirror, sees that scar, she's reminded of the life she COULD have had if she simply refused her duty. A life where she was free to hunt monsters along side Geralt and the other Witchers, a life of adventure and freedom without having to worry about everyone else.
Think about it. What would you rather do? Be responsible for the well being of an entire nation, or be free to live a life of your choosing rather than just taking the mantle of responsibility from your ancestors?
Personally, I would choose the former option, just because I am REALLY sick and tired of the current state of affairs in this world. And if I was given the chance of supreme Imperial power, I would accept it because I genuinely want to change the world in its current state for the better. I'd accept the challenge and responsibility of having to make compromises and change things to make a majority happy and others very unhappy. But not everyone feels that way.

I know what you want to say and I really can understand it and it is well written
But the thing is, the other two endings for Ciri are not better.
In one she never return to the world she was born, where she have her friends, family etc. She will life in another world(s). It could be better there, but we will never know.
In the other end, this witcher end, she will be hunted by Nilfgaard till she is found. And even Geralt will be on escape as long as he can ran, cause he lied to the emperor.
Okay, Ciri is a well fighter and has might, she will have no problem to deal with the people who try to get her to Nilfgaard. But she will never be free, will think that behind every corner is a person who tries to get her to Nilfgaard.
Or the other way: When the emperor is killed and the opposition rules Nilfgaard, they want to kill the "last child" of Emhyr and so killers will sent out for Ciri.
And I really think, a life full of escape is way worse, than being the empress.
She cannot life a "freely" Witcher life cause I really think a poor farmer want to get bounty for Ciri than paying money to this WItcher to get rid of some monster.
I know, all three endings are not perfect, but with all points in head being the empress is better and saver for her.
