"Right in front of the house, upon the left-hand side of the drive, there stood a patriarch among oaks, one of the most magnificent trees that I have ever seen."The Folio Society Book Illustration Competition longlist is officially out I can finally share the exciting news: I've been longlisted!
I wasn’t planning on entering this year, but when I read that the subject was Sherlock Holmes I just couldn’t resist. Had to be done.

Seeing this series of beautiful illustrations from you really felt like perfect timing. I've been listening to a lot of Holmes audio books (read by Stephen Fry - it's amazing work), and so each of the lines you chose to illustrate stands out in my mind as a familiar friend.
This one in particular really sets a great tone with the lighting and atmosphere. The perspective is great - and the two figures instantly recognizable even from a distance (deerstalker!).
