Description

One more look at Aura Lockhaven’s three incarnations: Victoria 4 (left), Victoria 6 HD (center), and Victoria 7 HD (right). We can tell which incarnation is the sultry one.

DAZ Studio 4.9 Pro -> Reality 4.3 -> Luxrender 1.6

An interesting experiment is to put the same Vicki in different hair styles. She looks like different women. For this, I reversed the experiment, and put the three incarnations of Aura in the same hair. The only hair I have that spans all three generations is Mairy3Dream’s Gregoria, which V6 Aura wore for a year. The same hair helps show the similarities and differences between the three versions. This is the first time I ever noticed how much V4 Aura did look like V6 and V7.

As I no longer have Aura’s original V4 skin (a freebie named Carol I found on Renderosity back in 2009), I put her in Briana by Danie and Marforno. V6 wears a highly and manually customized Living Doll for G2F by SaintFox and Digital Lion. V7 wears Skinvent for G3F by FWSA hotrodded in Skin Builder 3.

V4 shows how limited DAZ’s sculpting morphs were back then. Functional, but basic. V6 has much more, and they were put to good use. For V7, I abused Zev0’s various shaping systems. In fact, it could be argued that V7 Aura is much more a Zev0 model than a DAZ3D Victoria.

Aura was V4 from April, 2010 until January, 2013. She was V6 from January, 2013 until August, 2016. She became V7 in August, 2016 and will remain so until V8 takes me hostage. She bypassed V5 completely.

G3F is the one that I have to give the nod to. She is just all around the most beautiful of the three women. I am a V4 and G2F user. So I am amazed by what you have done with G3. Of course I can't use Iray so I am not sure about G3. I guess I can use them, but their stuff screams Iray.

Very interesting to look at all three. The V4 version still looks a little generic. I can see that when you got to G2 you started to customize her look and make it more distinctive. The little bump and curve to her nose, in particular, sets her apart from other characters. The G2 version looks prettiest (but of course as a G2 aficionado I'm biased), but the G3 version looks just a little more exotic so I can see why that's the primary figure you're using for her these days.

The V4 was an attempt to capture Lindsey Vuolo in 3D. I didn't make it. You know the story behind how Aura came to be, right?  The V6 was based on her written description (she was a novel by then), and V7 simply a transfer of the slider settings to the next generation. That demonstrates the differences between the basic sculpts of V6 and V7, considering that the sliders are exactly identical.

There are days I wish I hadn't upgraded Aura to V7. Oh, I'm totally in love with her V7 version, but V6 still has a much more natural look to her. That more developed mesh just permits things that V7 doesn't. For one, her breasts lay naturally on her chest, while V7's stick out, as all G3Fs do. When I get around to Aura comics, I'm using the V6 version. Despite the more sophisticated mesh, she's lighter on Iray resources.

Funny thing about her nose hump. I can't get it as pronounced in 3D as it is in the novel. She doesn't quite have an aquiline nose, but it's close. The 3D version is more of a hint.

All three are great and have something unique about them... Hard for me to say which one I like most...

I have a sentimental fondness for all three. The V4 version started it all, and it's good to have her back. V6 appeared when I decided to turn the comic into a written story. V7 appeared when I got off my butt and finished the first book, and she graces the cover.

Waiting for them mixtapes.

The three of them look fantastic. One can see how much more detailed and distinctive you've made each model update.

Thanks. The advances in rigging really helped that.

HA!

Many moons ago, the V4 version appeared as the front woman for a band called The Wytches," featuring the rest of the major female characters from the graphic novel. That render vanished in a hard drive crash years ago.

Oh, no! Thanks to a video my wife played last night, "Mr. Sandman" was stuck in my head for hours. It's back!
