Description
This remake is of one from mid 2013, showing Aura's first appearance as a Victoria 6 figure.
The original:
If you don't think there's much similarity between the original and the remake, you're right. The wide discrepancy doesn't just show how much Aura has developed as a 3D figure and I have as an artist, it shows how much she has developed as a character in eight years.
The original was made in a transitional phase between her hentai graphic novel (her 2010 origins), and her written fantasy story. Many things that are givens about Aura Lockhaven today did not exist in 2013. For openers, even though I stated that I designed the V6 figure after her written description, that description was based directly on how she looked as a V4 figure. Notice that the original did not have a humped nose. In 2014, I closed my eyes and let Aura tell me how she looked, which formed the basis for the way her 3D character looks today. I had not yet established that she carries her staff in her left hand, and casts spells with her right. The original is a rare case of her carrying her staff in her right hand. Red was not her signature color then, so her bikini was more of a blah brown-gray leather. She wore body jewelry, which was right out of the graphic novel/V4 era. I made the jewelry and her sandals in Hexagon. While proud of them, they were too difficult to describe in writing. By the end of the year, I had ditched them for her more familiar boots and gloves. Finally, in the graphic novel and the first draft of the written novel, she lived in our world, in Manchester, England. So, making a stand in a church was totally plausible. Today, she inhabits the traditional fantasy alternative Earth. Her world doesn't have a monotheistic faith, so no churches.
The remake features everything that is standard for her today: her face, her body, her clothes, her crimson color, the staff in her left hand, and a setting that fits her world. The original was made in Reality-Luxrender, while the remake is in Iray.
Since she carries her staff in her left hand, I flipped the pose to keep the look of the staff away from the camera. I think the original pose was a V4 that I simply applied to a V6. That doesn't work so well on a G8F, so I kitbashed some AeonSoul poses to get something close to the original feel.
