Description
A small watercolor and black ink illustration I painted few weeks ago for 'On Beauty' International Group Exhibition at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco. Opening is May 10. My piece will be available for sale through the gallery.More info there: www.facebook.com/events/384767β¦
Technique: black Indian ink and watercolor on Fabriano paper. About 11,5x16cm.

Woah.... first thing that hit me was the swan skull hidden behind the live swan. Β All of the sudden this image takes on a whole new twist on "beauty", and what it means... and what it does to us. Β She is beautiful, but there's a strange undercurrent here, especially with the red stains across much of the image, especially her fingers.
(Interesting side note: Β I have another photographer friend who has done a series on young women with heavily freckled faces. Β The series is exploring beauty, perception, and how do we see beauty in someone. Β I don't know if your young woman here has freckles or if the spots are something else, but it is an interesting parallel.)
