Well, one of the techniches I used on this one was:
step 1. Draw a sketch.
step 2. color the scetch on a seperate layer. Put in some shadow and highilghts.
step 3. Press ctrl. and then click the scetch layer. That'll select everything on the layer. Apply the selection on the color-layer, and use the level tool to change the color balance on these areas.
This will give you a noice, scetchy look to your colored painting.

And it's fun to come up with new characters to fill out the background's of the game-characters as well.

Oh and I really love some of you pics. Especially the fairy portrait.

I usually spend too much time with my drawings, I think. I'm trying to learn how to work faster. Sometimes I find that leaving a pics "scetchy" look kan actually enhanche the result. Thats diffrent from case to case of course.

thanks a lot that you like my pics.
Your drawings "selene" and "a sad ending" are also very good.
i really like the way how you colourate the lights.
and jeah, you are right with the scretchy look. Sometimes it makes drawings more interesting and gives them a good touch ^^
