Al-Heeshan's Silver Bream.Oil on canvas, 81 X 61 cm.
Al-Heeshan is a very popular fishing spot in Kuwait known for its Silver Breams.
I used my own catch & fishing accessories for the composition in addition to my late Grandfather's knife which he used for fishing during his lifetime.
Kuwaiti fishermen prefer the traditional fishing methods, they do things "old school" and do not prefer to use fishing rods unless they have to.

The only thing that i like to comment is the fish looks flat instead of solid...
Besides than that, everything else is so perfectly done, I LOVE THIS!

Wonderful painting and technique.
I had to smile, brought back a memory! I painted a still life fish once (loaves and fishes in my gallery). To find full fish, I bought vacuum sealed fish from an asian market. It was summer while I painted and I had the two fish on the table next to my easel. Well I am slow when I paint realistic and after a few hours, the fish really started to smell. As the time went on... the smell got worse, and I painted faster and faster. I realized I had to finish that day... no way to come back to it the next day. It felt very good to put those fish in a plastic bag and throw them away when I was done...
Anything similar???
