Description

January 15th, 2253 AD- At 4:45 PM, the Hawking emerges over a snow-covered northeastern Washington DC, where vertical farms grow produce in hydroponic bays sheltered from the freezing outside. The van is programmed to fly to Tampa, in warm and sunny Florida. By the 23rd century, weather control technology has tempered Earth's climate, a far fling from the global warming that cost so many lives in the second half of the 21st century. This tech comes from a vast grid that encircles the globe. In the post economic region known as the Direct Democracy of South Florida, a region that extends from New Port Richey and Orlando, all the way down to the Conch Post Economic Region in the Florida Keys, being over the land that was the state of Florida when it was part of the United States. In the riverfront Curtis Hixon Park, next to Downtown Tampa, being at the base of a tall, mile-high tower large enough to contain the population of a small city, known as the Tampa Arcology, it's a balmy, nice day, controlled by the orbital weather control grid surrounding Earth. People and mentally upgraded animals go about their lives, and as artificial intelligence maintains the infrastructure, replacing the need for workers, are enjoying the afternoon with no stresses, other than being late for meeting up with friends, significant others, or spouses for a fun outing.

In the warm afternoon sun (with early sunsets of winter being a thing of the past after the abolition of daylight savings time), an attractive, blonde 25-year-old woman takes a seat at a park bench. But given the incredible ability for medical nanobots to regenerate and rejuvenate immediately, everyone in at least the AWPER, from 18-year-olds to bicentenarians, born in the 1950s who could afford age-reversal technology back in the 2030s, are young-looking and fit, with the appearance of someone in their 20s, are also common. This woman has never needed to worry about ageing, has never lost a grandfather to Alzheimer's, or a really close friend to a horrific motor vehicle accident or grisly murder, so she can rest easy and recreate in 23rd Century luxury.

This woman switches on her virtual immersion contact lenses on her eyes, via a switch behind her ears, and her surroundings are transformed into a virtual world that looks like something from a futuristic science fiction film from the 1980s or early 1990s. A mechanical beeping is heard, as a red light flashes on a device on her right wrist. She answers it, and an ageing villain, with a scar over his right eye, laughs, "So, Kelsey Parker, I can activate your mobicomm device, so you cannot escape me! I have my agents approaching your position, and they are trained to kill!" Kelsey looks up and sees about five men in black suits and wearing sunglasses, closing in on her. One of them says to the other men, "I see her! Open fire!" Kelsey leaps out of the way as the SMGs begin rattling off their rounds. She tackles the first guy and breaks his neck, before grabbing the gun and shooting the second goon through the head. Kelsey uses a third bad guy as a shield, where two of them kill the unfortunate thug by riddling him with bullets while trying to kill her. The corpse falls on her, and Kelsey is shot in the head. The simulation ends with Kelsey back in the real world, gripping her forehead and wincing in pain for a couple seconds, before it subsides. TO BE CONTINUED...
