Yep, a USMC Rifleman with a Colt M16A4 Rifle.MARPAT was done by hand as usual.
EDIT: Inverted the green and brown sections of the MARPAT and darkened the steel parts of the M16A4, thanks !
Removed a strange mark on the neck and cleared some extra pencil lines.

Ok so you're trying to say, that a 5.8x42 round, can rip through 9mm flak ballistic vest, on top of which is covered by a 7.62 ball protection Sapi plate.Β

The body armorΒ shown in the drawing is most likely has an NIJ ballistic protection rating of Level III (Maybe an IOTV?). You need a Level IV such as the CIRAS to stop an armor piercing round at 200 meters, and a point blank shot will still have a chance of penetrating. Plus, the low recoil and flat trajectory of the bullet guarantees multiple hits on a target.Β

would still be stopped possibly, only thing that can penetrate 7.62 sapi's are 7.62 Armor Piercing, not this 5.8 round you suggest. Β As for multiple hits, surely it's not hitting in the exact same spot twice therefore it's not likely it will go through the previous holeΒ

You are reffering to the NIJ Level IV. The Level IV is made to stop armor-piercing rounds such as the MK-262, M995 or the .30-06 Springfield M2, but the Level III only stops standard rifle rounds such as the SS109, M80 Ball or the 7N6. The standard 5.8 is armor-piercing.

According to the bottom of the page of world.guns.ru/ammunition/rifle⦠, the 9x39mm 9SN projectile is able to defeat standard military vests of up to Level III at 600 meters. According to Wikipedia, the 9SN can penetrate up to 10mm of steel. This means that a Level III vest is equivalent to a thickness of steel that is less than 10mm. And according to www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/Assau⦠, the DBP-95 will "punch through 10mm armour plate at 300m".

Whoops, a bit of a misinformation there. The I confused the 9x39 SP-5 with the 9.3x64.
