This is supposed to be Rolan from The Heralds of Valdemar series, written by Mercedes Lackey
Those familiar with the books can probably tell this is based off the picture from the cover of the third book in the triology; Arrow's Fall, but I tried to make it more my own, more as I picture Rolan ^^ Loved those books, just finished tHoV, looking forward to reading some more from Lackey (though it might take some time; just started some more Robin Hobb books

Absolutely gorgeous! Was surfing on DA for some preetty Valdemar fanart to look at after I submitted my newest piece and this really stood out.
Love the almost medieval-esque style of it, it looks like a painting of a companion from within valdemar itself! I have a different cover of Arrow's Fall so not seen that artwork but I have a feeling this really has some deft touches added to it ^^

I don't know to what extent this drawing is based off another, but you've got incredible movement and power going on here. And there is so much awareness in the eyes! Guuuh, pretty.
