I've always liked the idea of street vigilantes carrying paint cans. Just seems, I dunno, edgy.

Saw it in the cartoon concept art, and then in the comics he spray paints his sign to scare bad guys. I like it too. In a pinch he could probably turn it into a flame thrower too.

I probably wouldn't have either. But the new cartoon gave his spray paint. They also gave him this Lock on a string type weapon that he could swing and hit guys with. Another cheap but effective weapon. That sort of gave me the idea that he is like a moneyless Batman.

Particularly in the new show, which, even though I haven't really watched it, seems to have him put a little more effort into his arsenal.

The new show is great, I like it even more than the previous 80s show.
April is a teenager too, Donatello likes her but there is the whole thing of him being a mutant turtle.
Splinter deals with his losing everything, his wife, his daughter Kurai, and his being human.
Its all good for the most part. I'd love to be a character designer for the show.

Hmm, what about the 2003 show?
Also, given how much it's been implied that the Turtles have a crush on April, it's nice to hear someone actually point out weird that is.
And, wait, Karai is SPLINTER's daughter in this? THAT's different.
Anyway, I guess I haven't been paying attention to the show because I've been reading the IDW comic. Not the one based off the show, the different continuity one. It's very good, but it's more on the gradual and gritty side than the show seems to be.

That comic is great. Although I still like the 80s cartoon origin (which the new show uses too) where Splinter was a human and has more of a connection to Shredder. Karai being his daughter gives him more too. The comic is great, I like that Donatello made an alliance with Shredder and Krangs look. I'd LOVE to work on that comic too. I didn't pay much attention since the 80s cartoon until the 2013 cartoon, so I don't know about the previous. But the new cartoon isn't as slapsticky as i thought it would be. It is fun but is also very deep and interesting. Rat King is a guy with mental powers over Rats. At first he could read thoughts and said to Donatello, "Do you actually think April could love you..." And in a storyboard I saw Donatello says to April, "I get it, to you I am a mutant. It couldn't work." But then she kisses him on the cheek and he is confused. Rat King also tries to convince Splinter that he is no longer human, give in to his rat self. April's father turns out to be a traitor of some sort, real father? I don't know.

Well, since they added in the whole reincarnation and resurrection elements in, Splinter and Shredder still know each other pretty well.
Anyway, the 2003 show was what was on when I was a kid, so that's what I was used to. It's a bit interesting to see the franchise kinda go back to its roots in a lot of ways. And I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that the new show isn't as goofy as its advertising would indicate.

I didnt watch for a year because I thought the same thing. I grew up with the 80s one, looking back now it wasnt so great, but this new carton takes that fun old series and makes it better.

Gotta draw the line at the cricket bat. No real New Yorker would ever have one.
