Description
A character that appears in the Zelda campaign I'm part of. The design was done in conjunction with an artist friend and player at the table.
Bongo is a powerful Sheikah sorcerer that led an insurrection against the royal family of Hyrule with a Sheikah sub-faction named the Interlopers. It was said his gaze could read into a person's soul and pierce any and all deceptions. He was also a proficient drummer who mastered many magical songs.
The Interlopers' insurrection was eventually crushed by the other Sheikahs under the command of Impa. Some of the survivors were sent to the Shadow Temple to be tortured and interrogated, while others were sent to Arbiter's Grounds to be banished into the Twilight Realm. Bongo's body was mutilated, one of his eyes ripped-off and used to conceive the Lense of Truth. His remains were magically sealed in the deepest levels of the Shadow Temple.
The Party encountered Bongo after he used a Dead Hand to abduct Sukima, recognizing the Twili girl as a distant descendant of his kind and tried to manipulate her darker side to serve as his champion and fulfill his revenge on the royal family. The party was able to bring back Sukima and thwart Bongo’s plan.
Bongo’s boss fight is similar to his Ocarina of Time incarnation, with the addition of magical songs with a variety of effects, including life drain.
The battle was made more difficult by us missing the chest containing the Lens of Truth, thus having no way to see the Bongo’s main body. Fortunately, with the combined use of Kelpie’s Song of Storm and Sukima’s spell to make objects and creatures glow, we were able to render the invisible spell completely useless.
