SasuNaru: Chapter 8

Last time:

Naruto huffed, glared, wanting to get the fucking message across. "I will be okay, if you just leave. The room. Now." He tried shouting, failed, coming out as a shattered breath. Heart clenching in his ribs, feeling like it was about to explode.

Sasuke, not wanting Naruto to suddenly faint again, left the room, glancing one more look at Naruto, heart breaking, closing the door behind him, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. He chewed on his bottom lip, convinced himself Naruto was just mazed and confused.

Naruto stared at the closed door, tried breathing. But it didn't help.

Sasuke's legs hurt. They hurt from his elbows digging into them for two hours, but it was the only way he could keep his head up, and so, his legs hurt.

Had Naruto really said that to him? To leave? Why would he say that, why would he say that to the person he loves the most? Sasuke's head was spinning, eyes glassy with tears every time he thought about that hard expression on Naruto's face, that anger.

It had been two hours, two hours of seeing nurses walk in and out of Naruto's room, doctors going in to check up on him, taking care of him. That should be his job.

It felt like forever, all the waiting, the suspense, each singular moment pacing up and down the narrow corridor hit Sasuke's gut like someone was gripping his lungs. Not once did he say anything to anybody, a few nurses asking if there was anything they could do. Sasuke gave them a cold look, and they scurried away faster than mice being spotted by their pray.

Coffee; It was all he drank in those terrifying hours, days, months, he couldn't remember anymore. Giving himself only a two minute toilet break, setting some routines for himself, he felt more sturdy, scheduled. He didn't want to ask doctors for help, he wanted them to come to him. He wanted good news, he wanted them to have all the answers he'd been wanting to ask, all the information possible. Naruto was the whole world to him.

Finally, at what Sasuke thought would be his breaking point, Narutos doctor had stepped over to him, and gruff look plastered on his face, like it had always been moulded that way. He supposed that's what hospitals did to you.

"Sasuke…Uchiha, is it?" He asked, eyes lifting up from his clipboard, settling on his face.

Sasukes whole belief system ran. His hope washed away at that simple comment. "Yes," he chocked, straightening his back.

"Mr. Uchiha, before we get started, are you in any relation to Mr. Uzumaki?" He asked, pushing his glasses further up his nose.

Sasuke almost broke down. No, he wanted to say, no, his family is dead, I'm all he has, and he doesn't even want to see me. "Yes, I'm his cousin," he lied swiftly, really not wanting to take things to any higher level of difficulty.

"Ok, Mr. Uchiha, it seems that Naruto, while in his coma, had somehow confused his dream world into reality. That everything that happened while dreaming, he thinks really happened in real life."

Sasuke was relieved. Well, he thought he was. Maybe he could try and convince Naruto that he was back, in the real world now, that whatever he'd done in his dream world was nothing but bullshit. He considered this for a moment, how easy would it be? He guessed hard, painful, Naruto couldn't even look at him. God, that hurt.

"Mr. Uzumaki had only suffered minor head injuries, causing a short-term coma, and if you wish, you may take him home, but it will not be within the next 24 hours, we still need to do further investigating, and he needs much sleep due to his head." The doctor finished, eyeing
Sasuke like a father would, concerned, tired, trying to give him a firm message, all good news, making it as easy on him as possible.

Sasuke appreciated that, half smiling, the first in hours, he said he would retrieve Naruto tomorrow, shaking the doctors hand, all this time still not knowing his name. 'Morgan', he said, a ghost like smile on his face.

The doctors words spiralled around Naruto's mind. What had he said again? Oh, that's right, that he had been asleep through the whole time he was in his 'dream world.' But how would he know? It just felt so real. But then again, if he had been in a coma, he really didn't have a say it really what happened.

But what if he was still in his dream world? What if everything that happened before had been real, and this was all a dream? Fuck, his head hurt. This was too fucking much to wake up to.

He stared at his closed door, knowing that on the other side was him. Naruto knew he wouldn't leave, chatter, or not. He was just that darn pathetic. God, it had killed him to see Sasuke on top of that woman. She wasn't even that pretty, and not that bright, Naruto assumed.

Suddenly a girl with bright pink hair had walked through the room, Naruto could spot her from miles away. Sasuke was talking behind her, mumbling something about 'damn girls' and 'Naruto might not like you here.' Naruto frowned, a low growl rising in his throat. If anyone wasn't allowed to see him, it was Sasuke.

"Naruto, oh, thank goodness you're ok!" Sakura sighed, running over to him, placing a kiss on his forehead, squeezing his shoulders.

"Hey, Sakura, yeah, I guess I'm ok," Naruto smiled, trying not to focus his eyes on Sasuke.

Sasuke stayed silent, eyes captivated by something more interesting on the floor. Maybe Naruto was being to hard on him. If this was the real world, and Sasuke hadn't cheated on him, had been worried out of his mind, praying for Naruto to wake up…

No, no… this was too hard. He needed to think, badly, figure this shit out, and he couldn't do that while Sasuke was in the room. Damnit, after everything… all Naruto wanted to do was pull Sasuke in his arms, hold him, wanted to hear Sasuke say 'I love you'.

Naruto exhaled loudly, whispering "Sakura, I can't have Sasuke in the room right now…"

Naruto was thankful enough she didn't ask about his statement, turning to Sasuke to give him a solemn look, eyeing the door regrettably. Sasuke looked pained, giving Naruto one last sad look before leaving the room.

Naruto cringed inwardly, heart never slowing down. Sakura turned to him, frowning, an expression a mother would use, Naruto guessed.

Naruto sighed, got her to sit down, and explained all about his 'dream world'.

"Oh, Naruto… this must be so painful," Sakura said, a frown forming on her face.

Naruto felt like shit, giving her a quick glance, he replied with a ground out "Yeah…"

Sakura, being completely honest with herself, had no clue as what to do. She always felt the need to make things right, sort out the issue so it wasn't in the way anymore. She was glad she hadn't appeared in Naruto's dream world, or worse yet, as Sasukes 'other woman'. But this was a lot to deal with, a complication she had no experience with. That was an understatement.

Sakura looked at Naruto, somehow trying to analyse his thoughts, and breathed out "Naruto… this Sasuke, he, he loves you, Naruto," she whispered. Waiting, she listened for Naruto's reply, but got nothing, so she continued. "I know… well, I don't, at all, but the Sasuke out there… just behind that door, one thing that I do know, is that that man loves you. I can see it, and I'm sure if you gave him a chance, you can see it too."

Naruto's heart dropped, remembering Sasukes pained expression when told him couldn't see Naruto. He coughed, propping himself up better, "Sakura, it may seem easy… hell, even I know that, but, I don't know if I can, real Sasuke or not,"

"Naruto, it's not like you were asleep for ten years! It was only ten hours!" She yelled, surprising herself, then calming down seconds later. "Please, I don't know how to prove it to you that this is the real world… or whatever, but you have to believe me, Naruto, Sasuke has never cheated on you, he needs you, he needs to know you still love him."

I never stopped loving him. Naruto wanted to, so badly he wanted to believe this was all real, Sasuke hadn't cheated on him, that he had been here for every minute he was in his coma, worrying until he lost all meaning of the word.

Sakura was out of ideas. She really wished she was better at this. She knew this did have to be hard for Naruto, not knowing if he was in the real world, or his worst nightmare.

But she needed to keep trying, make him believe that no one would ever hurt him now, especially not Sasuke. She opened her mouth to say something, but Naruto beat him to it.
"Okay… I'll try, I want to see him," Naruto was looking down, biting his lip so hard it left a dent, fingers twiddling together.

Sakura was shocked for a second, then it clicked. She felt relieved, nodded once, giving Naruto quick rub on his arm, whispering 'You can do it' and left the room.

It wasn't until seconds later Sasuke had bolted to the door, staring at Naruto with pleading eyes, whispering his name over and over again until he reached Narutos side. He bent over and kissed him. Sasuke didn't care, he'd wanted to do this forever, from the moment Naruto woke up.

He needed Naruto to know he still loved him with every living fibre in his body, his heart, his mind, his soul.

Naruto broke away moments later, "Sasuke, no, I ca-"

"No, no, no, please, Naruto, I love you, I love you, don't do this to me," Sasuke begged, wanting, hoping to get his message across to Naruto.

Naruto looked at him, studying, spitting out a 'fuck' before slamming Sasuke's lips back to his own.

Nothing else said was worth writing down.

1 Month Later:

Naruto had insisted they move in together in his house, implying silently that he still felt awkward in Sasukes apartment, seeing Sasukes living room, his couch. It still made his blood boil, if not for a second.

Sasuke had been more than happy with Narutos suggestion, packing up whatever belongings he needed, he didn't have any good memories in his place to really call it a home, except the steamy, loving nights he had shared with Naruto. Smiling to himself, he grabbed his bags, walked out the door without looking back.

Naruto had been so excited about Sasuke moving in, going out to get matching keys for the both of them, starting new, fresh, it's all he wanted. He had called Sasuke ahead, telling him to wait outside their apartment.

He arrived, grinning, Sasuke smiling in return, before placing the silver key in his boyfriends hand. Sasuke stared at him, about to say something before Naruto interrupted him, stepping into their home, before closing the door, he turned and said:

"I want you to open the door with that key, come in, and tell me you're home." Before shutting the door behind him.

Sasuke smiled, heart just about beating out of his chest.

He slit the key in, on some level scared it wouldn't open, fear aside when it did, and he walked in, seeing Naruto crying, smiling so big it seemed like he had slept with a coat hanger in his mouth. Sasuke felt at that moment his legs would collapse, whispering out:

"I'm home."
