Dhampirs also have no weakness to silver with minor reactions to holy water. They are generally weaker than their full blooded counterparts but stronger than a normal human. A dhampirs wounds will heal faster than a human but slower than vampire. Key characteristics that all dhampir share are: untamed dark hair, lack of a shadow and a raised black mark along their spine.

Nayden is a humble and considerate man who puts the desires and needs other of others before himself. He tends to come off as placid and folksy with people; eager to enjoy the company of others. However, should the situation become tense or confrontational, Nayden's personality will become meek; almost cowardly. He will rarely engage in violence, often trying his best to avoid it. His cautious nature is most notable when he is around visibility stronger people and pure blooded vampires. While Nayden may come off as a scaredy-cat, he is a loyal friend who will do what he can to help.

History:

Nayden was born in Vidin, Bulgaria. His mother was the daughter of a wealthy merchant while his father had been the son of doctor. The two were engaged to be married and deeply cared for each other. Only weeks before their wedding, his father was in grave accident that left him mortally wounded. As he lay in the muddy road next to his destroyed carriage and slain horses; a figure came into view. Longing to return to his future bride, he made a deal with the mysterious figure. Once the sun rose and the accident site found; he was believe to be dead; for a body that resembled him had been found at the site. But his future bride refused to believe that the body found was that of her lover. The body was buried under the name of her lover; but she knew he was still alive. On the night of what would have been their wedding, his mother was awoken in her bedroom. There on the balcony was none other than her lover who was thought to be dead. In glee she ran into his arms; unaware of the change he had gone though. His family rejoiced at him being alive but questioned who the man they had buried was. His father knew nothing of another man, he had been found by a passerby and take to a small cottage to rest. His family didn’t dwell much on it, replacing the grave stone that stated his father’s name with a blank stone. Without hesitation, his parents were married and soon a young boy was born to the two.

But the truth would come to the light as Nayden grew up. The black raised mark on his mark brought alarm to his mother but his father assured her it is just a birthmark. His father gave him the name “Nayden” which means found in honor of his father returning home. Once Nayden was old enough to walk, did the reason behind the mark become clear; the child had no shadow. Concerned for her child, his mother asked his father for the truth. His father promised to tell her if she and Nayden would go into hiding with him. Out of her love for his father, she agreed and the three disappeared. In a small cottage in the woods, his father revealed the truth. As he lay dying in the road, he was approached by a vampire. In exchange for saving his life, the vampire would convert him to become a vampire. His mother was scared but she felt she could trust her husband. As time passed, his father didn’t seem to age while Nayden seemed to age slower than normal yet his mother aged normal. Their simple live would reach their end when Nayden appear to be age of a teenager though he was much older. Vampire hunters had come searching for his father and managed to track him back to the cottage. Only minutes a head of the mob, his father rushes into the cottage and tells his wife and child to flee. But by this time, his mother had aged greatly and her mobility was limited. There was no way she could flee with Nayden; forcing him to choose. Did he stay and trying to fight alone side with his father or flee alone? His father once again yelled for Nayden to flee. With one last hug from his parents, the dhampir fled into the woods as the mob over took his home.
The only occupation that Nayden could find without his lack of shadow being noticed was that of miner. Thanks to his enhanced strength, the work wasn’t hard. It put food is his belly and allowed him to pass time. But sooner or later, someone would begin to ask too many questions and he’d have to move on. Thankfully, there were numerous mines throughout Bulgaria; allowing him to stay in the country of his birth. Nayden once again found himself chased from another mine and with his possession stuffed into a large backpacking bag and duffel, he wander through the Bulgarian wilderness. As time passed, he soon found himself in the depths of the Russian wilderness. Unaware of the nearby Dark Arts Academy, Nayden takes up residents in an abandoned shack. During one of his hunts for food, he stumbles across Alex Elsworth, a vampire attending the nearby academy. While wary of the full-blooded vampire, the two found common ground and befriended each other. At Alex's urging and his longing for company, he excepted her offer to come join her at the academy. While he had not current interest in attending classes, that was always a possibility in the future.
