Late reply, but an apatheist is someone who simply does not care if God exists or not. They don't believe and they don't not believe. A quote many live by is-

Its a way to separate ourselves from the common hatred shown by atheists, because we are completely pacifistic when it comes to religen. We simply want to live, God or gods or none.

Mm. A simple kind of criteria is that you do not hate religeon and you don't care to disprove creationists or evolutionists. You simply want to live and let live.
The official definition is along the lines of not accepting or denying the existence of God. It can also mean someone who does not find the question of whether or not God(s) exist relevant to their life.
If you simply don't believe, you may just be Atheist, though ^^

Apatheism is one of many ways one doesn't define oneself atheist because of the total hate from religion. I don't say I don't care, I care pretty much, if It think that I'm lucky as it is that such beliefs didn't brainwash me as a child.
