Ready for tonight's Match, everyone?
EDIT: Since this piece is receiving so much love, and since Prince Oberyn deserves a proper homage, I am finishing it up to make it a proper piece. Stay tuned!

Hi!
He does not have two left hands, the one in front is tilted upwards. What I focused with this painting was the overall construction of the piece, based on horizontal parallel lines playing along, so the ground, the horizon line, the detail at the wall, the spear and the slogan were placed purposely following this structure, the rest was to position the character arms in a way the spear doesn't look out of place. Sometimes as an illustrator you have to make choices: to be realistically accurate or to be visually appealing. While the former has its merit, the latter reaches a wider audience since normal people tend to focus on the message and the feelings the pieces spark in them rather than analyzing what's technically wrong. You might argue you can do both, and I agree... this was an speedpainting, tho... made hours before the show and I wanted to release it just before the match, and since I don't go around piercing stuff with spears, I am unaware of the correct techniques neither crossed my mind someone would focus on that.
The text above is the Martell slogan, house of Oberyn, stands for being Dorne the only one of the seven Kingdoms that hasn't been conquered in battle (they joined the Seven Kingdoms via marriage).

This looks tremendous! It really captures the dynamism and the spirit of the moment! I DID catch the blur lines from the spear thrust, by the way, the glint of light. Nice touch!
The Vision is stunning, and captures the mood with the neutrals of the Game of Thrones world.
I gave it a low Originality for obvious reasons, but don't get choked up on that.
The Technique is a very definitive style that suits the subject matter and holds a unique look.

Oberyn was my second favorite character in season 4, second only to Tyrion. I came to sympathise with his cause the more i found out about his character, something that made his death all the more shocking. I say this because his face captures the rage,pain and frustration of Oberyn during his fight with the Mountain. Furthermore both his stance, the shading and the background depict his strategy of moving around and striking at his opponent perfectly which i find fitting. Honestly though i find that some parts of Oberyn are too blurry. It is a great piece as a whole and the emotion behind it is similar to the "You raped her! You murdered her! You killed her children!" three simple lines that made the character so much more.

I will not lie despite knowing how this match would end the fight choreography was superb. I can definately say Oberyn lived up to his name as the "Red Viper" and this picture captures that beautifully. The soft colors are a great choice and the dynamic pose is good to signify action and believe me there was ALOT of that. Another thing I like is the fact Oberyin here looks more like his series counterpart since the actor managed to portray him perfectly. To me this is fan art done right, it has a mood it is close to the source material but also unique.

Oberyn died, but much likely killed the Mountain in the process. In my eyes, Oberyn was one of the heroes in the series. I cried when he died, but I was happy that this asshole Clegane will never hurt someone again.

Hi I'm really sorry but that was me. I wanted to find out who the artist was. I googled searched the image and it came back with a bunch of results on different websites. A lot of sites were using it so i thought it was the Shows concept artists who made it. Absolutely love the artwork. One of the best pieces i've seen.

Whoa pretty good the Red Viper of Dorne at his finest swining a Spear. I have never really seen a character using a spear as a main weapon
besides Oberyn as Im pretty sure a Lance which is what Diarmud from Fate/Zero and Barit from FF 7.

it's PERFECT. Beautifully done. The only detail I find is that the Martell sigil needs a spear crossing that sun.
