Umm they're very pretty but I fail to see how they're African. The models look like they're supposed to be white, I don't see anything that reminds me of traditional clothing from any of the cultures I'm familiar with and I don't see any traditional patterns either. It seems a bit of a shame to me, adinkra cloth is beautiful and gele (the head-wrappers) can be amazing.

Your fashion illustrations are amazing! I'm starting my fashion book for my art portfolio, do you have any tips for me? I'm having problems with the figure.

Thank you so much for the appreciation, darling! There are a lot of ways to draw figures for fashion, you know....so I can't really give you a particular piece of advice! Of course you should be following some general proportion rules in fashion croquis, but then again....different artists will have different styles. I guess the best thing for any aspiring fashion sketcher would be to exercise as much as you can so that you can find your own style. You can also find a lot of video tutorials online which can help you understand the proportions and everything....! The rest is entirely up to you! As the main idea of fashion sketches is exageration....that gives you a tremendous amount of choices. You just have to find your own way! If you feel uncertain at the beginning you can always try to outline different figures using a tracing paper and then slowly slowly you will get used to do it on your own. I don't consider this cheating, it's just exercising and forcing your hands to move the right way! And it also depends if you decide to sketch traditionally or on computer. Nowadays the graphic tablets and computer programs are really useful and you can achieve really great things with them. Even if I started by drawing traditionally, now I am only using the computer and the graphic tablet cause they give me so many new choices of colours and textures that I could have never achieved traditionally. I hope I helped you a little bit and best of luck in your work. Can't wait to see the results! Keep in touch and please ask if there's anything in particular you want to ask me. If I have the right information, be sure I will most gladly help you! Kisses and hugs!
