Looks like someone likes John Berkey. Not a bad artist to draw inspiration from at all. And if you don't know who I'm talking about (though I'm sure you must), check him out on google. He did some great starship paintings.

Yes!...very good, I rediscovered the old Master, I loved him when I was in Art School!
He paints with REAL oils on canvas...fantastic stuff!
If you look at Sparth you can see where he got his style as well, even the situations he does are very much Berkey inspired!!
His ships are very "Berkey" like as well!

Hope you like y verdions!
...and thanks!

Well Berkey's ships are quite my style personally, though I certainly appreciate the compositional aspects of his pieces. My venture into traditional painting, through acrylics, is very limited so I can't quite appreciate his works for all that they are. It's one thing to enjoy a piece for itself, it's quite another to appreciate how difficult it is to pull off.

Your piece btw is quite nice, though personally I would've enjoyed some context for the two ships. Even a simple starfield. Some of my favourite Berkey paintings have great interaction with the environments. Like the one ship cutting through the water with the city in the background. If nothing else, an environment or a contrast can give your designs a better sense of scale or belonging.

I also wouldnt mind some better definition of the form for the lower half of the near spaceship, but maybe that's not what you're going for?

Cool anyway.

Wow DeviantArt needs an edit option, just to clarify I meant to say that his ships "aren't quite my style personally".
