This is quite amazing
Stumbled upon it on the web a few days but it took me a while to find whose the credit.
Much better than the one bioware put in the game (though basically the same model and pose)

Thanks!
Where did you stumble upon it?
Actually pose isnΒ΄t same as in the game. Although I wanted to make it look like that by using same clothing and feel. Also I re-rendered as close to same facial features as model had in the picture in ME3. I love biowares work.. most of it anyway. Most of TaliΒ΄s appeal comes from "not knowing" everything about her. It tickles your mind and makes you imagine.
IΒ΄m glad you like the pic!

Well yeah not the same angle exactly but similar pose clothing and face that's what I was going for.

I just googled Tali'Zorah and found it (not on deviant) took me a while to find you did it. So I was glad for the opportunity to say thank you

Wish I could draw like that, I have a scene in mind but can't put it to paper

IΒ΄m happy that you did the effort.
Just draw and paint everyday and learn from the masters. You can never be too old to start learning techniques. Check out FDZSchool in YouTube. He keeps my feet on the ground and knows how to teach. IΒ΄m yet just a student and far away from professionals.

This is one of the first "unmasked" Tali portraits I like - even the picture doesn't seem to do justice for her, but I think you did a good job making her feel both real and alien.
Thanks for keeping the eye bioluminescense while avoiding an "off the deep end" effect and the strange-but-believable hand shapes.
Nive work
(And my guess on the forehead lines is that they're slight ridges, either with alternate skin color as a signalling/expression feature, or an obscure sensory organ, like infrared or ultraviolet detection, or biochemical detectors, since they were heavily symbiotic with a variety of microorganisms, that sort of thing might help them find or avoid concentrated areas of beneficial or hostile microorganisms respectively. I'm a biologist by trade, so I like to think out what sort of purpose such things would serve.)

Those are good theories. Now I know what to think about the forehead lines!
IΒ΄m happy that you like the picture! I donΒ΄t know did you mean by "off the deep end effect". My bad english maybe?
If you meant how IΒ΄ve seen some versions where eyeballs were painted dark so the luminance is forced to be obvious I agree.
One thing that I also considered that the eyes would be somekind of beast eyes that luminates only in different angles and surrounding lightings. But it would be logical only if the Rannoch would be darker planet and they needed good night vision.
Thanks for the comment and the

Exile-Outfitters In reply to Nemca [2012-04-11 13:23:34 +0000 UTC]

No problem Sorry if I was confusing, "off the deep end" just means extreme - I've seen images showing Quarians with blazing spot light eyes. I like how yours shows the luminescense without being too extreme.

Since you mentioned it, it does seem like they only luminate in certain conditions, or can be consciously controlled. Tali and the other Quarian's eyes aren't always showing through their masks in-game, only in certain lighting, or up-close during conversation. If they control them consciously, they probably increase the effect when communicating to help indicate mood or inflection. Now I just wonder why their masks can't be transparent...

Anyway, you're welcome, thanks for sharing your talent

Nemca In reply to Exile-Outfitters [2012-04-11 20:34:44 +0000 UTC]

IΒ΄m sure bioware just wanted them to be mysterious. ThatΒ΄s why non transparent mask. Or if they actually are nocturnal creatures and thatΒ΄s why their helmets must be darkened?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Exile-Outfitters In reply to Nemca [2012-04-12 04:23:18 +0000 UTC]

Good point, my friend. They could be nocturnal, they could even be hyper-sensitive to certain radiation wavelengths (UV etc) and need the opaque mask for protection.

Love the thoughtful yet playful pose you gave her!

Anyone know what those things on her forehead are supposed to be? I mean, they look kind of cool, but it's been driving me batcrap crazy trying to figure out what exactly are they?!? A second pair of eyebrows? Very tiny horns? Antennas? Tattooos?

If ANYONE knows, I'd be grateful for the info...

I think the fact that they just used an actual photo was what I disliked. They argued that it was the same as 'face models', but it really isn't.

As good as the game looks, it doesn't look like real life and having a real photo in the game is just off putting.

This subject has been on many lips these days. It was a bit disapponting but atleast I got the reference to get this pic done.
I personally think they couldΒ΄ve shown a bit more of Tali alltogether. At least for those that romanced her. When you see LiaraΒ΄s, or Ashleys romance scenes you can figure where the developing time has gone. Tali mainly just wakes before you. I donΒ΄t mean they should have done it too explicit way but giving something new and revealing to Tali fans wouldΒ΄ve been fair. She seems a bit underrated character.
