I had no idea where to actually post this. XD;So while I should have been finishing my last projects of the year, I got REALLY distracted and went through over 6 years worth of sketchbooks and laughed and laughed and laughed myself silly at how much and how BADLY I drew. Especially my muse, Neo.
Therefore I created this. A little progression of when I kept my first real sketchbook back in early early 2000 using Neo from when she was 'created'. Beginning of high school really. ( I have more from before 2000 but I can't find them. I must have burned them. :/ )
In 2000 I bought my first psx and got FF7 and FF8 with it. I had played FF7 briefly sometime after it first came out in 1997 but my parents wouldn't get me a PSX.
After that I became the biggest, most obsessed FF7 fan ever. It was all I could think of. Thus, Neo was born! If you went through my books you'd actually see how bad I was. XD; So anyway ... from 2000-2006. Enjoy.

I really love Neo. >w< I sooo don't know what to say... in her I found the style, the appearance... EVERYTHING I've been looking for for a muse. XD But even though I get a lot jealous most of the times, It makes me appreciate what I already have. X33 Maybe because seeing the tranformation of your drawings from the past six years gives us hope that we might get as good as you do in a period of time. >w< I'll keep on practicing now. (:

But you know what, in your early.. (let's say you're 23 right?) 16 or 17 years, I don't think your drawings there look bad at all. Especially on the folds of the clothes, the anatomy, and the poses... if I were the one who did them, I'd feel like I've done a really good job. >w< I someday really want to be as good as you.
Sigh...

I do this alot too! I have 7 books for seven years. Same characters, different designs. I love how much you've improve and then you have days that seem nostalgic...even so that you wish to run far away from the past.

LMAO! In 11th grade I quit drawing noses too! I was like "this is so f*cking innovative, yeah!" Hahaha, suffice it to say, that didn't last so long... profiles suck without noses. ^_~

Very cool, Neo. ^_^ Gives some of us not-so-good artists hope. Hehe...You think I am kidding, but I am not. Some of us artists that are starting out look at good artists, like yourself, and wonder if we will ever get that good. Its inspiring to see someone's work at the beginning.

Heheh. ^^ Glad you appreciated it. I know what you mean though. No one starts off incredible as soon as they're born. Everyone has their own level of potential. Everyone can't suddenly be 'perfect' at age 18 or what not. We all develop at our own paces. :3 A friend of mine wasn't that very good to get into the illustration program I'm in right now a few years back. But he was so determined to get in so for two years he took art courses at my college and just BOOM. I could not believe how much he had improved. Like drastically. And he got into the program the other year ago! It's amazing how people can blossom. ._. It takes time but it's so worth it. I don't like it when artists are discouraged because they haven't improved in a month or even a week. I've been at this since .. I was ... what .. 13? I'm 21 now and only just become comfortable with the way I draw.

I really did appreciate it. I totally agree with what you said, as well. I think some new artists (and I'm guilty of doing this myself, at times) don't look at the small steps that they make. Rather, they want to be as good as someone like you in a week. Another thing that I think frustrates people, is like you said, people have to go at their own pace. Its frustrating to see someone who's 13 who can draw as well as someone who is 25. In a way, though, that really makes life interesting. Drawing is something for everyone of all ages...It is not something you do just when you're young...or just when you're old...It is definitely something people of all ages can relate to. I am 25, and when I look at some of the teenage artists, its hard to think that someone younger than me is better. Society just seems in still in us that whoever is older, should be better. With drawing, it is just not that way. I find it fun to be able to talk to people of all ages, and see how they see different things about their own artwork and others'. It is just a fun thing to do all around.
