Amazing, I've made a lot of regular fractals, and I've posted a few of them here. But I've always wondered if you could make 3D fractals and it just look gorgeous.

I just downloaded the 3d hack and did your great tutorial. I must be missing something wrt rendering....didn't come out at all like the screen image....any help for a total newbie would be appreciated!!!! Your images are amazing!!!!

On screen the background is black but after it is rendered to disk and I open the png file in Photoshop the background is transparent. I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong. I didn't change the DOF from zero and the quality was 4000. I didn't change any other parameter. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

Yes its supposed to be like that you rendered it as a .png (wich is default). Just add your own background in PS.
