Description Here it is finally! I decided to warm up with digital art so I did the refsheet finally!

This is my design I've been planning and trying to get to look good for years :3 And it ended up looking best on a fox - Yes, it's all about the pattern!

Also did I forgot to mention? They have exactly no limit in personality!

Originally it was supposed to be my personal project of the perfect pattern in my eyes, but when I designed Cookie, people fell in love with the dark tail and gloves, so I was told I should make it a species ^.^
And I'm planning to sell adobtables of these in the future too~
---------------

Most important trates:

-ONLY and ALWAYS fingers and toes are light! Not any further on the hand!
-Dark area on arms&legs ALWAYS covers the hand (never fingers!), and cannot go any further from the arms and legs.
-The light part on torso and head ALWAYS cuts in TWO areas, usually on the neck, sometimes on stomack.
-ONLY 3 colours on fur, no less, no more. (Hair and eyes are different)
-On hybrids, they ALWAYS gain the arms&legs pattern, usually reverse, sometimes normal way around.
-The tail NEVER has the middle/base colour, also the dark colour covers most of it ALWAYS.

---------------

Already exsisting characters:

-Cookie (Design by me, adobted by ~Kayanaa ^_^)
-My two little unnamed foxes , And a bit outdated version
-Shane (No images yet, a grayish dark reverse colour one)
-Vanilla
-Jupiter A Blacktail fox & Ocelot hybrid.

-----------------

By respecting rights I mean, that if you make a blacktail fox character - please mention me as the designer of them :3 Or just link this submission!

By having this as a species also allows you to make your own characters like this and doesn't make me feel like your stealing my designs this way! <3

-------------------

PS. If you start posting comment's about this isn't a species, please read the responses I've posted to others already. They will answer your questions.
This is as much a species as a red fox or fennec for example, just not something that exsist's irl.

And if you start with the "I've seen these before". Please LINK me a drawing of a character with ALL the trates combined together which is BEFORE the post of original Cookie fox design. And please don't start the stupid bullshit comments like "I thought this up myself but just didn't draw it". I will not take notice on those.

Ahh, very clever design indeed. :3 I like it. I made a species of fox up myself a while ago, except I called it the opposite. -grins- Mine was the 'whitetail fox'.

Hmmm I think I have a picture around somewhere on dA. Ah! Found it. It's a Christmas Card, but it's the best reference I have... [link]

There ya go~ Sadly you can't see part of him because it's hidden by pants, but the white part on his chest and stomach makes a soft v shape around the groin, and the white fur on his feet extend up about halfway on his calves. :3

x33 Looks pretty neat.
It's actually pretty interesting that any darker toned foxes that exsist never have white or lighter colour than themselves in their paws. It's always either same colour or darker

Yeah... dang it, God, why didn't you create a species of fox like that?! >>; Ah, just kidding. I don't even know if God exists or not anyway, being agnostic and all. XP

Hmm I actually was thinking though that I want to post up more furries on dA anyway. The second most recent deviation I did was of a raccoon anthro I came up with a while ago. I just love drawing furry things so much~

Bwhaha XD

Would you mind if a character in a story I have was a blacktail? Kinda trying to figure out how she was supposed to look .w.

I dont mind, as long as there's credits somewhere :3

I've already put one blacktail to a comic I'm drawing, and mostly planning to sell them as adobtables to people to use anyway they want.

o.o Urm..but this is just a fox with a differnt colour pattern? That most foxes can have anyway....so It's not really any differnt from a fox

Neotheta In reply to Rubyjessicalockheart [2011-08-07 17:30:27 +0000 UTC]

Most fox species in real only have pattern differences.
But the thing that makes it a species is that all the offsprings will always have the same elements in ther physical form.

Elements? It's an animal they don't really have elements , you should really make the animal differnt and new before classing it as yours , other's will draw somthing likre this and not have to give cridit

Neotheta In reply to Rubyjessicalockheart [2011-08-07 17:41:28 +0000 UTC]

by elements I mean that offsprings of this bird: [link] will never look like this: [link]
Even the shape of their body is the same on both species, but that's because they both belong to the same family.

Such as Gray fox and Red fox and european fox all are the same shape - but they always have certain pattern on their offspring and certain genes that make them the certain species. It's really hard to tell apart european fox and red fox, because even their pattern might sometimes be the same.
But european fox will always be european fox even if it looked like red fox.

But what if someone already has a character like this BEFORE you ''created'' the species?
Hmmm >:I

Neotheta In reply to TarodZ [2011-08-07 17:32:03 +0000 UTC]

I've honestly never seen one on my years of being active in the furry community (apart from the few people who copied Cookie detail by detail!)

And it's about the combination of all the elements, single elements always happen - but the funny thing is that I've not even seen most of them, at least not on foxes

With the variations, the top two seem more Male, while the bottom two seem more Female. Was that intended?

Cool new species, and excellent guide.
