She had grown up in a somewhat stable home. Her parents never really got along but tried their best to stay together when she was young. They had divorced when she was six but still maintained a friendly relationship for the sake of her and her older sister. She lived with her mother most of the time, visiting her father on the weekends and occasional holidays. While in junior high everything changed for her. Her sister moved away from home to attend college. Her mother had just began a relationship with a new man since her divorce. School was the only place she had people to talk to. She seemed to talk to everyone but really only maintained a few close relationships with some girls and guys who lived in her neighborhood. High school wasn't terrible as she had joined the chorus, creating even more friendships and a love for music. Her life was relatively generic until it came to her senior year. Like most of the school, aside from those who already had plans, she stressed and applied to colleges across the country. She had always had a passion for art and wanted to pursue a career in illustration. Her family and friends supported her but that wasn't enough to get her through most of where she applied. Being only accepted to the school furthest from her home she was reluctantly forced to go there.

College seemed great; a new atmosphere, a fresh start. She left everyone she knew behind and traveled 8 hours away from her hometown. Her loneliness began when she was roomed with her exact opposite. A girl who seemed to know everyone: loud, obnoxious, and a partier. The first few months were fine. She seemed to be left alone while her roommate went out and that was fine. It was when her roommate forced her out into a party that things went bad. Ellie was pressured into drinking and publicly embarrassing herself in front of nearly the whole school. She hardly remembers what happened and can never forgive herself or her roommate for that. After that night she shut down. She barely went to class and refused to speak to her roommate merely giving her nods and grunts. She began sleeping most of the days hiding herself as she sunk further into a depression. She felt as if the whole world hated her. No one could look at her the same. All she wanted was someone, anyone to talk to. Someone who didn't immediately have awful prejudgments of her. It wasn't until she stumbled upon the Dream World did she hope to find that.

A)[college shower time] Shuffling down the hallway she clung to her shower basket with one hand, gripping her robe with the other to ensure it was closed tight. She scooted past a couple upperclassmen as she arrived at the dorm showers. Finding a shower in the back, away from any stragglers that may still be finishing up, she pulled the shower curtain closed behind her. Turning on the shower she slipped out of her robe waiting for the water to warm up. The showers were really her only time she had to herself. Her thoughts poured into her head as heavy as the shower poured down on her body. She was stressed, upset, and wanted nothing more than to lay back down in her bed. Quietly humming to herself she tried to drown out her thoughts with music. Her voice echoed against the empty shower walls. She felt in herself her words and thoughts equally echoing around inside her.
