A long time ago, there existed the small village of Ravencroft. In Ravencroft, there lived a beautiful young lady with porcelain skin and unusually bright red eyes. Her name was Laura Knightwell.

Laura was no ordinary young lady, for she was born as the daughter of a witch. As one might expect, witches were unwelcome in the town of Ravencroft. They were social outcasts who lived in small camps in the woods just outside the village. For many years, the villagers were led to believe that witches are evil and untrustworthy. In most of the world, they are. These witches, however, were a very different story.

These witches did not use their magic for evil purposes, but rather for very good ones. At one point, they all used to be normal, everyday women who lived in the village among the others. You see, these women did not choose to become witches. In fact, they did not just learn magic alone. They were born with it. These witches were a rare breed where their magical abilities manifested themselves around adulthood. These witches joined an alliance to use their powers to ward off the demons that inhabited the land and threatened the village. However, they mainly retained their magic for healing purposes, which they disguised as herbs and other substances. For generations, the witches taught their eldest children how to cast spells and brew special potions in secret.

However, their supernatural powers came with a hefty price. Over time, as the witches continued to forge their spells and fight off the demons, their magic would gradually drain them of their humanity. Their magic not only aided them, but it also corrupted them. Their magic would twist their minds and give them very grotesque appearances, with cold, black eyes with piercing red irises, discolored skin, long, black, claw-like nails, long and serrated yellow teeth, and unusual red marks running down from the lower half of their eyelids. They didn't turn evil. They may have had an intimidating presence, but they were still relatively caring people. However, their personalities did become a tad more "kooky and eccentric."

When one of the witches who lived in the village would become "feral," they would soon leave the village to join the others in the woods, knowing they would soon be put to death if anyone saw them. From then on, these witches would dedicate the rest of their lives protecting the boarders of the village from the demons who wait to feast on them.

Once Laura had come to age, her mother (Center Witch on the Upper-Left) sent her to live in the village to assist those in need. For the most part, Laura lived out her days without a hitch.

- On occasion, Laura fluctuates between her normal-self and her feral-self (Lower-Left), but manages to suppress it before others can see her. She is always anxious when this happens, fearing her wicked side with show itself at the wrong time and exposing her. But she also can't help but find a sense of ease and satisfaction whenever she uses her spells or goes into her feral mode.

- In one instance, Laura falls in love with a nice young man named Jonathan (Lower-Left) and the two plan to be married. But when the village is hit by a harsh winter, many villagers become severely ill (Laura and Jonathan being the few who are still healthy). So Laura uses her powers on an enormous healing spree, with Jonathan assisting her. Fearing he may not love her for being a witch, Laura is hesitant about telling him about her powers. The remaining villagers become very suspicious by these sporadic recoveries and suspect the use of witchcraft. They soon come to the conclusion that Jonathan is the witch and have him arrested. When in court, he's convicted guilty and sentenced to death. Soon after, the villagers set off into the woods to uncover the remaining witches that are lurking by. They arrest all of the remaining witches, including Laura's mother, and sentence them all to death, completely unaware of their good doings. Laura was the last of her kind.

- Laura is absolutely devastated by this incredible loss. All of her anger and sadness build to the point where she transforms into her full feral mode (Lower-Right). She becomes super enraged and wants revenge on the entire village for being so ungrateful for what her people did for them. But she soon realizes that all of these events occurred because of her own interference. She also realizes that there's nobody to stop the demons from attacking the village!

- Laura fights off the hordes of demons singlehandedly (Upper-Right). The elder witches had grown weak and could not face them alone. But Laura was young and much more powerful. By the end of the night, she manages to eliminate every last demon. Exhausted and short-winded, Laura realizes that she has exposed herself to the entire village.

- Laura herself is arrested for witchcraft and sentenced to death by drowning (Lower-Right). She is chained up and is thrown over a cliff into a lake. When submerged in the water, Laura realizes that sometimes you cannot escape the ignorance of man. She decides that she would rather die a sensible young woman than a corrupted hag. All she wanted was to help people, but only brought death because of it.
