Kind of a dumb title for an explosion of this magnitude, but I thought it was funny. A pic done almost entirely freehand in Photoshop. I drew all the ships and the explosion and the reflections by mouse, then realized that I needed something in the foreground. So I sketched in some specatators and colored them, keeping the line drawing and colors seperate. Then, on a whim, I turned off the line drawing layer, and poof! This really nifty out of focus look!As for what's actually happening ... this is like an extended ending for Sonic Heroes. The Egg Fleet was just kind of abandoned in midair! I mean, even the Egg Carrier got a decent burial in Sonic Adventure--what were they thinking? So I thought the fleet ought to go out with a boom. Or a kablooie.

Explosions are ALWAYS a good thing. There should have been one in Heroes. I love how you did the almost-mushroom cloud. The lightening is just great.

All that free hand in Photoshop? Man, I need to get some tips off you for that, that background looks awesome! The explosion's light looks authentic, and massive impact-wise. And the lack of outlines really makes this look painted, a great effect for this piece.
