Gorings fault the Lufftwaffe didnt have a long range bomber or made the ones they had into production, or lucky for us
They had the JU 390 done and ready and even test flown it to only a few miles out from NY before turning back home, and still they didnt use it operationally O_o
Some rumor say some Germans flew to Argentina in one of them.

Iยดm not a such fan of ME 264, looks too small and dont look to be able to have a strong defence as a heavy bomber should have.

Great work

In fact none of the German airplanes were able to reach NY and come back safely.
The best alternative would be the hydroplane such as BV 222, but even though, it would involve a great logistic operation to refuel it in the middle of Atlantic. I think the best choice would be the missiles, that were used only too few and too late. - Thanks God!

I remember hearing about this plane on Aviastar. The photo reminded me of a German version of the B-29 (particularly the cockpit area).

Glass nose. A common nose for the bombers, mainly Germans.
It reminds.
In fact they (B 29, Me 264,...) remind me more a flying cigar
This type of nose used to give a better vision for the pilot and crew in the cabin, but by the other hand it turned them into nice target for the enemy fighters. (nothing is perfect).
It was a dream that didn't really take off.

Interesting that the Germans couldn't build one good four-engine bomber whilst the US and British turned them out like pork and beans.

They couldn't but as the main vision believed that it was unnecessary... gathered to the stupid/mistaken Goering's vision even the He 174 that had everything to work really well(if it had followed the initial project - four separated engines), failed.
