Description A ruddy shelduck drying its wings at WWT Arundel. I'm getting addicted to bird photography now and capturing their behaviour.

How cool! I saw this one today in Moscow.
I think it's the first time I saw some species like this in the city. Very beautiful shot from you.

And I'm addicted to your photography! I love your captures, always so clear and perfect, each water droplet visible, the detail in the feathers. Gorgeous. So do you shoot with a zoom or do you swim with them, just wondering.

hehe. I try and get as close as possible without being a threat but I have some quite serious lenses. Mainly my Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR and the rare nikon 200-400mm f4 vr. I've spent way too much on kit in the last 3 years and i'm now skint!

Feel free to checkout my website and comment on my blogs / guestbook and polls etc I update my website more than D.A hehe

I've just started thinking on getting a nicer more proffesional camera. The ones I've gotten before didn't have dif lesnes or what not, just dif. settings, so I have no idea what lenses are or whats the deal with 'em. Wanna explain? LOL

er... er... ermm.... I don't think I can write out 50 pages

basically spend more money on lenses than you do glass. Don't buy an expensive SLR body and then stick cheap lenses on it.

the shorter the focal lens, (eg. 15mm) the wider the image. The longer the focal length (eg.500mm) the close you zoom to things.

Go with Nikon lol

What I meant is...what IS a lense? *feels so stupid* don't laugh...lol

ohh. Ok all cameras, binoculars etc have lenses. With SLR cameras the lenses arn't built in - they are interchangable so you buy lenses seperatly to suite different needs. So you buy an SLR camera BODY that is useless unless you buy a lens to go on the front of it

A lens consists of a number of glass elements and mechanics that allows light to pass through them on the film etc etc yadda yadda yadda lol

your better off looking up on google than me explaining - my laymens explanations are crap!

That helps! So with this camera: [link] does it come with everything I need to start takin' pics or do I needa buy lenses for it?

I don't mean to sound like a total dummy, BTW. LOL But your help is very appreciated!

thats not an slr camera - thats a normal digital camera with an in-built lens

I'm talking about Single Lens Reflect Cameras - more specific cameras and best you can buy if you want to take photography seriously (well next to medium format etc).

Okay, good. Cuz I don't think I'm ready for the expenses of lense proffesional cameras. LOL Thanks for your help.

Its a Ruddy Shelduck [link] not a Red Crested Pochard [link] but whatever we're calling it it looks good.

just to prove that was a total mistake - I have shots of ruddy sheld ducks and red crested pochards elsewhere in my gallery. I CANNOT believe I did that!
