Description The Snowdon Horseshoe as seen from the bank of Llynau Mymbyr in Capel Curig, Snowdonia.

Not too sure about this shot myself. The lighting was very crap and the mountains covered in haze.

I think the most stupid thing anyone could ever do is not take a camera to north wales, especailly snowdon.

Great shot.

Yeah. Snowdonia is fanastic photography wise. You have to really hunt around for a decent composition though and work out when the light will be at its best

Gorgeous shot.
I love it. Great composition.
Also, the foggy/hazyness of the mountains is nice. Combined with the kinda dark light reminds me of first thing in the morning.

I think it's great... nice leading of the eye & those clouds top it of just right

The light's a little... flat?
Kinda robs it of a little of the sense of depth it might have had... still those clouds over Snowdon are fantastic so they make up for the overcast nature of the general lighting

yeah it does seem a bit flat. I'm not a big fan of this shot myself. I think i've over done the contrast trying to recreate the moody atmosphere.

I'd imagine the typical "dark and stormy day in the hills" shot would be bloody tricky to get exposed right

I think you've found nice and new colours in this one (though the ground's maybe bit too dark, it loses its details) Usually you have lots of light in your photos or sunsets/sunrises. Now there's this calm, a little bit cold light. Creates really Nordic feeling btw XD If Finland had that kind of mountains I could imagine this'd be from an old finnish movie.. Or I once saw a Norwegian movie which looked like this.. : D

personally i feel that although 'erfect light' is desirable its not always essential.
As orca says you have given us a representation of a place that reflects its mood the majority of the time. So i say to myself "well although the light is not perfect this place is usually lit this way" (after all we do live in the Uk!!) some might call it an excuse but sometimes it conveys the mood better and enables the viewer to have more of an understanding of the place.....just my thought.
Anyway nice composition good colours and particularly strong moody cloud.

Throw in a gradient mask and bump up the shadows in the foreground? Snowdonia always looked a little dark to me anyway... beautiful place, though.

I think it sums up the mood of the place really well, The lighting is dull but not boring, the mountains and clouds make up for it.

the lighting was awful last week. A real blow.

Well, given the haze, it's a pretty nice result - you can see the mountains clearly. The only thing that bothers me are the shadows in the foreground.
