Description This is something new I came up with last year, but didn't have much chance to play with until recently. It's a glass architectural tile from Home Depot crocheted into metallic fiber. I did one last year to get the formula down but wasn't entirely happy with it and when I had to fill my table at AWA I put it out as one of the feature pieces to see the reaction. I got lots of OOHs and AAHs and by Friday closing some guy had grabbed it for his girlfriend, no questions asked. So I have done a few more to post in my Etsy shop; they'll be up starting on Thanksgiving altho I will probably have to reshoot all the photos because it's been cloudy and rainy here every time I have time to shoot and they are all coming out sucky. But I need to get them posted so the sucky photos will have to do for now. Speaking of, those beads on either side of the tile are a bitch to photo; they're foil-lined glass (the package calls them "miracle beads") and they reflect light something ridiculous. They're very pretty in person but impossible to get a good photo of. I need a better photo setup. or at the very least better reflectors. And better lighting. SUNLIGHT, DAMMIT!

My original design, copyright me 2012. Glass architectural tile crocheted into cotton/mylar metallic fiber with beige foil-lined beads for accent. Will be available at my Etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/SavingGraces

This is gorgeous.  I totally understand your complaint on the pictures.  I have a hard time getting good pictures of my work too.

Thank you! My problem is that I have very poor lighting in my house, so I need a sunny day and even then I will have only a 1-2 hour window when the lighting is good, even when augmented by my spotlight. When I need to post things in a hurry (trying to get a bunch of stuff up before Black Friday, for example) I sometimes have to shoot anyway regardless of weather. It poured every weekend for 3 weeks before Thanksgiving so I had to go ahead and shoot at wide aperture and even then I had to photoshop the contrast and colors somewhat to get them accurate. I'm dedicating the next year to reshooting all my Etsy photos when it comes time to renew each item.

It's a very stunning piece, whomever received it got a really nice gift!

The guy who bought it had come by earlier in the day with his girlfriend and she got very excited over it but couldn't afford it. The guy came back at the end of the day, I guess he went to an ATM and came back with enough money to get it for her as a secret present. I thought that was really sweet! (Especially as he was cosplaying Borderlands...)

I just loved that, it made the whole show for me. I had a lot of people buying stuff for wives, girlfriends, moms, kids. I think I'm a nice break from all the fannish stuff, so people can get stuff for the people in their lives who are not necessarily fans but like unique stuff.

Thank you! I did some in gold with beige tiles and some in silver with grey tiles. I'm very happy with them overall.
