This week I started watching Voltron: Legendary Defender. I first heard about it from a girl I met at a Comic Con last March. She said it was a reboot of an 80s series, which rather put me off because I always try to watch the original of something rather than the remake. However, I saw a trailer for it a few weeks back on a DVD of Kung Fu Panda 3 and thought it looked amazing so eventually I looked up reviews to see if fans of the original liked the new series. I saw it had immensely high ratings and I knew that wasn't to be sniffed at, so I watched the first episode on Monday and was utterly enthralled.
With a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, I had high expectations and it fulfilled all of them! I've been watching it every day since Monday because I've been completely drawn into the plot. One of the characters on the show is called Princess Allura and I wanted to draw her meeting Starfire. Like Allura, she is also a princess from an exotic planet and a member of a superhero team. (Do the Voltron characters count as superheroes? Probably.) Though Starfire and Allura might look dainty, they sure as heck can kick butt! Allura is a great leader for the Voltron team and Starfire is an asset to hers.
I reckon they'd really get on if they were to meet. (I also reckon Starfire would absolutely love Coran's cooking, much to the horror of the Voltron pilots!) I drew Allura in her regal gown, with Starfire wearing what I imagine her formal attire would look like (I based her dress off the one she wore in "Betrothed").
