Here you have it folks - the first illustration from my new and upcoming Teen Titans fanfiction, "Open Sesame!" Unlike my other two current stories for the series, it isn't going to be a one-shot but a full-length adventure, about as long as my Wizards vs Aliens fanfics. I won't give away too many details, but it involves Mumbo Jumbo, a magic lamp and plenty of Arabian Nights-themed antics.
In the above picture, Starfire and Robin are wearing their getup from the story. With Starfire, the natural choice was to have her wearing a Jasmine-esque costume, as it would reflect her femininity and also because it would bear resemblance to her regular outfit. As it happened, I ended up referencing I Dream Of Jeannie and Princess Nida as well. Princess Nida is from a cartoon from the Arabian Nights - a segment on a popular Hanna Barbera programme called "The Banana Splits Show" - that was one of my inspirations for creating my fanfiction.
As for Robin, I wanted him to look like a swashbuckling hero along the lines of Aladdin or Sinbad the sailor and I was thinking he would have an outfit like that of Prince Turhan (another character from the Arabian Nights cartoon) but he ended up with one more similar to Bez the Beast! In the story, he has a curved sword attached to his belt but it isn't pictured here.
