So far, you've shown us Valentina, Jade, and Vanda (mostly these last two). Is this Black Ops a girl's only group? Are there any men in it? If not, why? What are men's role in this universe. It just struck me suddenly, and I had to ask.

There are three genders of Skoog Elder Beings. Female, male and androgyne. Androgyne Elder Beings can adopt female or male gender at will and can choose to manifest as females or males. Generally all three genders have very similar roles and equal power in their society. Childbirth is instantaneous on orgasm if both parties have willed it. Their offspring are fully grown and in possession of all their full powers at birth. The education and experience required to use those powers wisely is acquired in a vastly different way to the ones we are familiar with here on Earth.
Those Skoogians who are not Elder Beings (humans, elves, dwarves, goblins and all the rest) tend to function as is normal for their particular species but in accordance with the norms of the culture and society being developed by the Elder Beings. Opportunities for advancement are equal regardless of species or gender.
The rest of the universe beyond the Skoog Astral Plane is made up of many species in many diverse cultures and societies. The roles of males and females vary enormously in those cultures and societies.
There are some all female groups and some all male groups within Skoog Society but generally they are mixed. Black Ops 1 is a mixed unit although I have only displayed female members of it in this particular Snippet. If you look at the Newbold World Intro you will see that it contains Quirky, two males and two females.
I would guess that about 60% of the characters that I have created are female and about 40% are male. So I guess that I'm a little bit biased and can think of two or three powerful reasons for that being the case.
If my answers raise more questions please don't hesitate to ask. I love talking about the Newbold World Universe!

How does the Skoogian parent carry around a fully grown being? Is it because they're gas-like?

They don't need to carry them around at all! They are fully grown and fully self sufficient at birth. They are a cloud of colourful energy particles and don't even need to eat or drink except when they choose to manifest in some other form.

What are your elves and such like? More Tolkien or more traditional/old folk tales?

My elves are definitely more Tolkienesque in terms of phisical stature than many of the other mythical fairy tale types. Having said that Tolkien's high fantasy style is at the classical end of the Newbold World range which runs all the way through to contemporary punk and sci-fi alien types.
The Dark Elf Lady is probably the only current example of what I call a Classical Elf currently in my deviantart gallery. But examples of the more modern variations will appear over the coming months.

Probably more feral and less angelic!
Some do and some don't have special powers. The powers vary somewhat from individual to individual and between the different types of elves. There are many different types in the Newbold World Universe. Same is true of humans, dwarves, goblins and all the other aliens.

Eeeee! I like that idea. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Tolkien fan, but sometimes I really like the idea of the feral elves. I always think Mirkwood elves would fit into that quite nicely.
