Description As you know September 8th, 1966 is the premier date of Star Trek with the episode, "The Man Trap."  And the first fatality was actually a blue shirt named Darnell.

In fact, I think the first official red shirt fatality was on, "What Are Little Girls Made Of?"  As the one man in the space suit that the salt vampire killed didn't have the coloured shirt, but we can only assume he was a red shirt.

On, "Where No Man Has Gone Before," they only had blue shirts and 2 different shades of gold.  So there is no way to know for certain which colour shirt Lee Kelso and Gary Mitchell were.  "The Naked Time," only had one fatality, and that was Joe Tormolen who was a blue shirt.  Then we finally get to, "What Are Little Girls Made Of?"  Where we finally get a confirmed red shirt fatality.

I just checked the trivia on IMDb, confirmed.  That's when the red shirts started dying.

Anyways, after all that, September 8th is when Star Trek premiered in the US.  But here in Canada, it actually premiered 2 days before.  So it was 54 years ago today when we first saw Star Trek.  And with Discovery already renewed for a 4th season before season 3 premiers next month, Picard already renewed for season 2, Strange New Worlds, the Nickalodeon Star Trek, and Lower Decks, I think Star Trek will still continue even after the numerous times it came back from the brink.

Cancelled after season 3, Enterprise cancelled after season 4 and Nemesis flopping, Star Trek: Beyond under performing, but Star Trek survived, and still survives today.

And Eclipse gives me more reason why it should be discontinued.
