Description

A case of I don't recall if anyone asked that since La'an Noonian Singh is a descendant of Khan Noonian Singh, if she were an Augment.  And if she were, then how did she get into Starfleet?  Since Una Chin-Riley lied on her Starfleet application about her being Illyrian, and even Dr. Julian Bashir also had to hide his genetic augmentations from Starfleet.

That's one thing people need to remember is how much of Khan's DNA is still in La'an.

Khan was a child in 2022 based on, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomrorrow," and let's say he didn't have a child until about 2050 with another Augment before he left.  That child would most likely have mated with a human, and then that child would only have 50% of Augment DNA.

And let's say that child mated with a human in 2075, then Khan's grandchild would only have between 0%-50% of Augment DNA.  Though it doesn't work this way, let's say 25% Augment DNA.

2100, 12.5%

2125, 6.25%

2150, 3.125%

2175, 1.5625%

2200, 0.78125%

2225, 0.390625%

And La'an was born December 8, 2228

That means there wouldn't be any of Khan's DNA within La'an.  And since she's a woman with XX chromosomes, and Khan is XY, then we don't need to worry about his Y chromosome still being around.  Besides, by 2200, Khan's DNA would most likely had been filtered out even though a child wouldn't be born every 25 years.

We got confirmation she wasn't an Augment, or had any traces of Augment DNA left, on, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow," since Sera was mopping the floor with La'an instead of the other way around.

So either way, it's safe to say Khan's DNA is filtered out.

This is also with Khan being a child in 2022 instead of conquering a quarter of Earth between 1992 and 1996.  So even more likely.

I thought about this before I had watched, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow," but after, "Ad Astra Per Aspera."

Oh, on the episode, "Unnatural Selection," where Darwin Station was experimenting with genetics and genetic engineering.  How did they do it legally?  It was confirmed being a Federation research station on Gagarin Four, but this brings forth a question of if Illyrians were a part of the Federation, just not allowed in Starfleet?  I'm looking at, "Dr. Bashir, I Presume," to see how far in banning genetic engineering extends within the Federation.  I can't find anything other than barring him from Starfleet and practicing medicine.

But that's the only way I can see Darwin Station being legal while still being a Federation station, that it's an Illyrian outpost, and Illyrians may have some sort of membership within the Federation, or some sort of legal deal that allows the Federation to look at their research in helping in treating serious birth defects as that's one of the only legal ways to practice genetic engineering.
