This story concept has enough potential to be put on the big screens, only problem is, Disney would never allow such dark themes

"Dark themes" Well, Disney made "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "Fantasia", "Lion King", and possibly a few. I think they can handle some dark themes. They will probably lessen the gore and blood but violence will be there. Dark psychological themes? Possibly?

That is the expression of someone who put their trust in the system, and its betrayed them.
Statistically speaking, there are people who have been (falsely) accused of the worst possible crimes. You trust it will be okay. That the truth will come out. That everyone will know that this wonderful person you love could never be capable of such a terrible horrible thing. But sometimes, even in the most perfect system, a small percentage will be accused falsely. Of those people, a small percentage will be found guilty falsely.
I guarantee you, that somewhere in the world, there is a person accused of a foul and loathsome murder, that is perfectly innocent. Coincident, and a series of unfortunate mistakes has lead to a seemingly iron-tight case against them. But, that one person is innocent.
I guarantee that the vast majority of those protesting their innocence, claiming its all one big mistake are lying - they are exactly what the evidence suggests they are.
The bell curve of normalised statistics says there is a chance, however remote, of someone being a victim.
Those are the eyes of someone who has just discovered WHO that statistical anomaly is. And knows that no one will believe them.
