Description The Eastern Verdant is one of the smaller omnivorous varieties of gryphon. Primarily nut and seed eaters, these omnivorous creatures will change their diets just before mating season and start voraciously hunting beetles. The extra protein helps the females produce one of the largest clutches of any gryphon. The coloring of the beetle shells drastically alters the males' normal plumage. This is usually a vibrant green with metallic yellow highlights, but some small regions produce red or orange plumage. Mature males are known to follow juvenile females in order to eat the shells of the beetles they discard.
