White Diamond is constantly pressured to be the best due to her perfection as a Gem. She feels stuck in her role as a Diamond, and feels as though she's obligated to do this for the sake of her fellow Diamonds. This drives her insane, as she's been known to do experiments on Gems, in the hopes of making them as perfect as she. She ends up driving her own subjects insane alongside her, even her own Pearl, whom she loves and "cares" for.

"I wish to receive this colony so I can finally be the perfect Diamond you want me to be. It's the only way where I'll ever be loved; it's the only way I can keep you all from getting hurt by me!"
