Just a little something to prove you that I'm still alive
Believe it or not, I have comic ideas for every episode aired so far, but unfortunately, due to my schedule, I'm unable to even make a sketch of them.
Oh well....regarding this....seriously, Maud's dress color and even "that" helmet made me think of something like this

Party cannon. even if that particular one is pneumatic, the term "Cannon" was coined from the gunpowder weapon. Plus i dont see why ponies would NOT have firearms. they have videogames, and when unicorns can shoot LASERS, it only makes sence infantry would have some sort of projectile weapon. i see the Spears as the dress uniform (as they never ever use them.)

My problem is that I cannot reconcile ponies using rifles and pole arms with hooves. Gunpowder is fine, mouth activated fire-arms are not.

They have 2-button typewriters that they can use to type out novels, so there firearm triggers could be buttons as well. Remember that the spears are absolutely canon. if they can use a spear, they can hold a rifle steady and press a switch on it X'D
besides, pinkie fires the party cannon with her hooves [somehow] so the button idea can work.

Why was a piece of military equipment made in Equestria ? Well, to serve some very common military prupose : having a helmet.

helmets protected against sharpnel. a straight rifle shot cleaves through ww1 army helmets unless it was a grazing shot.

Yep. That was even more true with the hardened-leather early German helmets, the world-wide known "pickelhaube" - I'm not 100% sure about the orthograph, though.

Yeah the film was nice. I would rather watch it then read it, but when you have a test on it in the next month then you have no choice. Book was nice though.

Most people thing that the Helmet resembles a WWI helmet, actually, If you remove that spike on top, it would resemble more of the standard helmet of the germans of WWII, even the suit of maud resembles the uniform of a regular Wehrmacht grenadier troop.
