HiI can't believe I'm finally done with this picture *phew*
Took me quite a while (despite the simple look).
My old love for Kenshin has returned. Watched the anime recently, currently rereading the Manga and bought the Kenshin Kaden.
I also found Watsuki's new character concepts. Some of them were alright, some...not so much. I tried to draw Kenshin in this new version style (not sure if I like the two ponytails or the new scar).
I had to make those colors up...hope it works^^

Cool! I like how it looks like its painted in cloth. The scar is larger than usual, but he looks cooler that way!

I took a peek at the new designs, and... Wow. Aoshi looks pretty spiffy with glasses, if sort of strange. Hiko's hair is a mess, though. Ew.
I like your drawing, though. Very nicely done!

I don't know if you heard about it but did you know there WILL be a new Kenshin anime from the beginning to Jinuchuu arc (finally!).

I'm still hoping for that anime, even if I've heard otherwise. (We want Jinchuu! Come on, people!)
And you do mean Watsuki-sensei with that last comment, right? Cause I know he's married... And I find it neat that his wife's name is Kaoru, no less.^^

Huh? Do you mean Kenshin's wife - Kaoru? But I was talking about Watsuki-sensei. Sensei got married, and I don't know when. I was so shocked to learn he's married. There were rumors he was gay.

Ha ha, no. I DO mean Watsuki-sensei. (On Wikipedia, at least, it says he married a woman named Kaoru. Which... I find either kind of sweet or kind of creepy. Oh, well. Coincidence can be cool!)
I don't know when he got married, either... But I didn't know about the rumors. Sometimes I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to stuff like that.

There was an article on him talking about the RK live-action movie and I can't find it and he mentioned a wife and I don't recall seeing her name.
I would find it creepy if he did married someone named Kaoru. O.o
Well. I've checked and I don't see anything about him being married or the name Kaoru. Are you sure it's not Kenshin's Kaoru? ^^
P.S. I was this when I was googling to verify his wife's name. ^^ There will be a biography book on Watsuki-sensei. O.o

Ah. Well, I may end up checking out the live-action movie.

And... I WANT THAT BOOK! Watsuki-sensei's one of my great inspirations, along with Hayao Miyazaki. I love reading his author's notes. I can really relate to them, being both a "gamer" of sorts and an aspiring manga-ish artist.

Though, sadly... I read recently somewhere that it's not actually going to be a re-make. (Curses!)
It's going to be, apparently, a 2 part OVA... on the Kyoto arc...through Misao's perspective. O.o? Oro. It confused me. (I'm still hoping it's not true... but I have a sinking feeling...)

I already knew that about a month ago. Yes, it will be through Misao's POV. -_- I wasn't very happy about it because it'll be like Kenshin and Kaoru's POV in the OVAs. WHY?? Everyone around the world want the Jinchuu arc. Heck, I don't care if they did the whole thing or just Jinchuu arc as long it's done but sadly no.
The New Kyoto Hen as it's called will be out in December in Japan. I don't know if it'll be on TV or in theaters.

yep. Well there is the TV version, the Manga version, the OVA version... all of the styles are different. Then there is this style. After he finished the whole story and got better at art, the artist went back to his favorite characters and redesigned them, giving him a scar that goes over his nose and changing his outfit a little. I kind of like it this way... though the scar over the nose is a little hard to explain in the story.
Kenshin is what got me into anime... so the series will always have a special place in my heart. I did a whole ton of research into back when I first saw it because I was trying to find the roots of the story to find out how much of it was real and how much was fiction, just to sort the facts from the dreams as it is a historical fiction story, and that led me to learn a whole lot about it.

Some of the new designs were sort of ideas for Buso Renkin and his current work, Embalming because if you notice Kenshin's new scar is on the girl, Tokiko in Buso Renkin. As for Hiko, he was in Embalming. I like some of the new character designs BUT I preferred Sensei's old style artwork over Jinchuu arc or in Buso Renkin. I did see just a touch of old style coming back in Embalming.
If you're curious about Embalming there is a short bonus story in the final volume 10 of Buso Renkin. The female in it reminds so much like Kenshin. XD
I love the colors you chose for this artwork. It's all very pretty.
Oh speaking of colors..... the 'new' Battosai Kenshin has black hair. XDDDD And he looks so good in those bandages. *ahem*
I do really wish there is a remake of Rurouni Kenshin -- with CONSISTANT art style through out the series.

Ah, Buso Renkin...I've read some of it but stopped. It just wasn't Kenshin *sigh*

So, in the new designs, he actually has black hair? The sketches that I found were in blue only so they didn't give that away >.>
A remake would be nice but with old the old elements in it. I kinda didn't like Watsuki's style at the end of Kenshin. Too round...but I still love it, love love love

Yeah me too. I never bought any. The only thing I'm sorry I didn't buy is the final volume because the Embalming. It is like a pilot ep if you will before he made it into a series. I did laugh out loud when Tokiko said something about Shishio. XD Someone was bandaged something like Shishio and I almost bought that volume. 
Yep, black hair. lol It's hard to read Japanese. I've seen Japanese artists colored his hair black with those clothes at various Japanesse websites. I'm going to have to read it - try to read it in Japanese to find the word black with the help of my Japanese/English dictionary. ^^ Hmm according to my papers I've printed out Sensei shaded the hair which I'm assuming he made it black if though it was not colored in.
Yeah I agree what you said 'old elements in it'. Neither do I in the end of the series. However I do understand in the artist point of view he wanted to draw quicker and simpler styles. But it didn't look like Kenshin without his neat hair - I love his much earlier style where dear Ken looks like a kitty. :3 Or like Jin from YYH. X3 Anyway, the later style made the characters look tired and older and a bit flat. *shrugs* I didn't like how he drew the eyes in the later arc. I love Kenshin's innocent eyes and when he became battosai

I searched for Embalming...I don't think that we have it here,hm. I was kinda disappointed in Watsuki's other works, like Gunblaze West.
They just never reached the Kenshin-level
Haha, well I didn't really like the early early style of Kenshin but with volume 7 it all got better. He looked feminine yet hot, nice long face and super sexy eyes...
But I do understand that the style of an artist undergoes changes, especially regarding the time that has passed since the publishing date and the last chapter. I guess if he's confident with his style it's okay. But for me...I prefer the older style
Oh yes, they were VERY loved, they are loved, hehe. I'm so glad that I got all the volumes. You just can't get them anymore :>

Do you have a LJ account? There is a Anything Watsuki community that you can look Embalming in raw scans -- or is it raw Embalming scans -- not sure of the proper saying. O_o
There is a, er, was a scanlations in English at OneManga.com I believe tomorrow at midnight they're going to delete all the manga titles they have made in English. The real companies who frown upon amatuers (sorry for the misspelled word - have a headache, bleh) making no money for online scans for free. You can take a peek at it before it disappears. Um am I making sense? If not, I'll be clearer next time.

I do like Embalming because I see RK characters 'acting' in the new characters. Remember you didn't like how Kaoru looked? She's in there as Elm. She's a redhead. ^^ Elm has a mixture of Misao (happy), Kaoru ('new' look), Kenshin(red head and feminine X3).
He looked feminine yet hot, nice long face and super sexy eyes...

They all looked very different in the new version. I'm glad that Watsuki didn't get those ideas earlier, because I'm not too fond of those boots either

Yeah.. Totally agree with the anime comment.. ~__~ I have a love/hate relationship with the Reflections OVA, too. However, they did a wonderful job with Trust/Betrayal! =3

Don't you just hate how pathetic they made him?
I mean...he ends up dying because of some freaking disease...not fair.
What I did like about it though, was the fact that a lot of romantic scenes where involved, which I really missed in the manga. I loved the "love-making" scene, when she sleeps with him although he knows about his illness...It made me tear up.
And I cry so much whenever I see the end.
Oh, did you notice that the girl in Seisouhen (the one Yahiko is walking with at the end) looks a lot like the one from one of the Bonus Stories in Kenshin?

Yeah, that whole disease thing kinda pissed me off. ~_~ I mean, I really like it, because they make the characters more human like, not just the style, but emotions, too. What I REALLY don't like about it is the fact that they went against some things they specifically said they would NOT do in the manga. Ex: How Kaoru says she's jealous of Tomoe (but I can let that go, since it's a very human emotion), and how Kenshin says that, no matter what, he is not willing to give his life so easily.
Also, the girl at the end was indeed from a bonus story. However, that was Kenji, not Yahiko. ^^
IT DOES! Have you heard of the rumors that there is going to be a life action movie coming soon? I hope they don't kill it like they did with DBZ.. I only saw the trailer and knew it was going to be so BAD! Dx

I hate that Kenji hates his daddy...so annoying. How can such an adorable kid have such a nasty personality. Oh well... I guess in the OVA it is explained with Kenshin never being around but in the manga? Just out of the blue.
